Boston Bruins Library Visit

Information and Application Process

Boston Bruins continue to be great partners in supporting literacy and statewide summer library programs. For summer 2013, the Bruins will make special visits to five public libraries. Photos from previous years of summer fun are on the MBLC Facebook page.
The Boston Bruins, MBLC and the Massachusetts Library System are pleased to invite libraries to apply for a visit.

Application Requirements:

·  All libraries that are certified in the FY2012 State Aid to Public Libraries Program are invited to apply.

·  Libraries must be participating in the statewide summer reading program sponsored by the MBLC, MLS and the Boston Bruins.

Application Process:

·  Applications have been emailed to all library directors and are available on the MBLC website under Grants and Related Programs. Notice of this opportunity has also been sent out on MassYac and allregions listservs.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1.  When will I be notified if the library has been selected for a visit? Our goal is to notify libraries by June 26, 2013.

2.  What happens during a visit? Visits typically consist of Bruins mascot Blades, a story/craft, and Bruins trivia and prizes. Patrons also enjoy posing for a picture with Blades.

3.  Will Bruins players be a part of the visit? Bruins players are typically not part of the visits.

4.  When will the visits start? The visits will be scheduled to start in mid-July.

5.  How much notice will I have? The Bruins will work with you to set up a date for the visit so that you have time to publicize the event. Whenever possible, our goal is for you to have at least two weeks’ notice.
