Lakers On The Move

This month the LCAA highlights a husband and wife who are both “Laker” alumni. Charles and Jenette (Ambrose) Young from the classes of 1974 & 1975. Both “Laker” graduates went on to Loyola and received their MBA degrees and now have their own businesses. Jenette is the president and owner of Comforcare which provides companionship and personal care to the elderly, persons recuperating from surgery and illnesses as well as new mothers. She has received the Brava award from the magazine Baltimore Smart CEO. Charles has his own accounting firm and is an advisor each year in the planning and implementation of entertainment for the Baltimore County African American Cultural Festival. The LCAA wishes them continued success.

Alumni Fundraiser Day Trip To Atlantic City

Come out for a day of fun in the sun and help raise funds for alumni association. Once again the LCAA will be traveling to Atlantic City New Jersey on Saturday August 16, 2014. The cost is just $35.00 with a $20.00 rebate amount. A continental breakfast will be served. The time is from 9:30 am to 9:30 pm. Buses will leave from the corner of Preston and Eden Streets. All Class Evening Of Elegance (All Class Event & Fundraiser)

The LCAA thanks all alumni who came out and supported the “All Class Evening of Elegance” this year. It was held on Saturday July 12, 2014. This was done to accommodate the various class years that have not been able to sponsor their individual reunion and to raise funds for the alumni scholarship fund while recognizing individuals that have made a difference at “The Lake” They were:

Class Of 1974 Raffle Tickets

As part of their continuing fundraising activities to defray costs of their upcoming 40th year class reunion, the class of 1974 will be selling raffle tickets. The donation is $1.00 per ticket. The prizes are 1st place $150.00, 2nd prize: a Ravens shirt ($125.00 value), 3rd prize: basket of cheer, 4th prize Spa Treatment ($75.00 value), 5th prize: Surprise Consolation Gift. Contact any class reunion committee member listed above for tickets. The drawing will be held on Friday September 19, 2014 at the Phaze 10 Club which is located at 885 N. Howard Street.

Class of 1974 40th Reunion Weekend

Is being held during the weekend of Friday October 31, 2014 thru Sunday November 2, 2014. It will start with the welcome reception on Friday October 31, 2014 from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Embassy Suites Hunt Valley. The 40th Reunion will be held on Saturday November 1, 2014 from 8:00 pm to 12 midnight also at the Embassy Suites Hunt Valley. Tickets are $85.00 per person. The weekend will close out with the worship service being held on Sunday November 2, 2014 at the Mt. Calvary AME Church in Towson.

Class of 1978 35th Reunion

The Lake Clifton Class of 1978's 35th (it's actually our 36th) year reunion is all set!!!!!!! If you know anyone who graduated from Lake in that year, or anyone who'd like to attend, the information follows:

Membership
The LCAA is always looking for all alumni of Lake Clifton, Lake Clifton/Eastern High School and our new schools Doris Johnson, Heritage High and Reach Partnership to help build this organization into one of the strongest in the city. Each person has a talent and a resource that can be utilized. The monthly meetings are held on the third Saturday of each month.

Membership
The LCAA offers two types of active memberships. They are:
1. Active membership - $25.00 yearly renewable annual dues. Active members are entitled to voting privileges in any organizational matter and are eligible to run for any elected office.
2. Student membership - $10.00 yearly renewable annual dues. This is for students seeking an undergraduate degree and Lake Clifton Campus School graduates under the age of 22 years of age.

Upcoming Meetings

August General Meeting – there will be no meeting this month due to the bus trip to Atlantic City. The next monthly meeting will start with the September 2014 meeting on September 20, 2014. Meetings are open to alumni of all graduating years of Lake Clifton, Lake Clifton/Eastern High School, Doris Johnson, Heritage High Schools and Reach Partnership, as well as teachers and staff persons. Spouses and children are also always welcome. As the LCAA continues to grow, we need your help. We have many committees that are in need of help. We need your talent and resources to continue to make a difference in the fight to save our school and help its students of today. As the association grows it also continues to try assisting individual class years as they plan and organize reunions.
