Interns: at the start of internship share this sheet with the church treasurer to gain a clear plan for payments and due dates.

1.  Due Dates for Health Insurance & Tuition/Fees

$2,412 annual student basic plan

$2,856 annual spouse basic plan

$1,824 annual child basic plan

All tuition and fees are due the first day of each semester: These dates are:

Student is responsible for paying bill or doing a reconciliation form with documentation, or providing congregation site with a balance due. Students: please keep your accounts current as you won’t be able to register for any classes with outstanding bills.

2.  Financial Aid during Internship (Loans) and next year: Kelli Payne, Financial Aid Director X. 3008

a.  Loans are available using the same procedures during Internship

b.  Scholarships are not available during Internship, but you should apply anyway

c.  Remember to apply for Financial Aid by the required due date for the next year (generally April 15). Lent happens every year.

3.  Tax Implications of Internship

a. Your status is as an employee

b. Not Eligible for tax-free clergy housing under Section 107

c. May be eligible for exemption for lodging provided on the employers premise for the convenience of the employer under Section 119

d. Social Security should be withheld as an employee (should not be subject to SE)

e. Your Stipend is taxable

f. Your housing is taxable unless © above

g. Payment for tuition/health insurance could be considered tax-free

h. State laws may differ

It is the responsibility of the student to maintain

the ELCA Student Insurance. Congregations may wish

to help underwrite this cost for the intern year.

** No part of the program shall be construed as interfering with responsibility of pastor to and for the congregation, or with the congregation's ministry in the community.

** Any change in the terms of this agreement should be by mutual consent and with written notice to all parties involved.
