Comp 11 (Cody Stevens)

  • Map – Add Hunt Creek ORV trail.

Comp 33 (Richard Barber)

  • Stands 28, 128 –Remove old growth designation and change to stand condition to 4. Land management divisions field coordinator approval needed.
  • Map – Change to 800 label for stand 31.
  • Close trail between stands 418 and 422. Close trail running east out of stand 418 into stand 18. Close trail running through stand 25.

Comp 38 (Robert Theiner)

No changes

Comp 51(Richard Barber)

  • Comp – Total stand acres and comp acres need to match.
  • Stands 4, 7, 14 – Change to group selection.
  • Stands 4, 7, 14, 33, 37, 40, 71 - Add comment: Alternate acceptable understory as red and white oak, red maple, red pine, jack pine, white pine and aspen all in any mixture that results in a fully stocked understory.
  • Stand 30, 10 – Change to final harvest and replant to red pine.
  • Stand 30–Add comment: Oak regeneration is acceptable.
  • Stand 43 – Remove prescription. Hold for ten years.
  • Stands 73, 74 – Remove prescription.
  • Note: Stand 80 – Harvest was added to even out the age classes.
  • Map – Change ATV symbols in Sec 16 to jeep symbols.
  • Stand 43 – Comment: Close illegal road that runs north out of stand 442 to CR-624.
  • Stand 77 – Approved blocking both ends of abandoned logging RR grade in stand 77.
  • Stand 52 – Close east-west two-track on both sides of the hill.

Comp 59 (Cody Stevens)

  • Stand 68 – Partial cut code needs to be a subset of the whole. Change MOC to selection.
  • Stand 32 – Add to map. The stand will be planted.
  • Stand 35 – Map needs to match data.

Comp 63 (Cody Stevens)

  • Comp Header – Add locked comment regarding presence of osprey. All stands should be coded SC 8 for KW plan, SCA or HCVA as appropriate.
  • Stands 19, 20, 22, 28, 37 – Add locked comment regarding presence of osprey. Verify to see if seasonal restrictions apply.
  • Stands 58, 65, 69, 70, 77– Prescribe for harvest. Delay treatment until 2010 per KW plan.
  • Stand 65 - Comment: Leave residual pockets of red pine.
  • Stand 76 – Comment: WL biologist to arrange for educational sign explaining savanna and KW management. Monitor for prairie remnants prior to planting.
  • Map – Add ORV symbol (check with Paige).
  • Map – Add hiker symbol to High Country Pathway.

Comp 71 (Richard Barber)

  • Stands 5 – Change stand condition from potential OG status to SCA due to travel corridor.

Comp 75 (Robert Theiner)

  • Comp – Total stand acres and comp acres need to match.
  • Stand 18 – Prescribe for final harvest. Add comment: Seasonal restrictions due to loon and eagle activity.
  • Stands 88, 89, 90 – Added as biodiversity area.
  • Stand 449 – Add prescribed burn. Comment: There are natural grasses present and conduct a spring burn before green-up to enhance it.

Comp 87 (Cody Stevens)

  • Comp Header – Comment: Two story red pine management increases the risk of diplodia and may require over-story removal.Section line between sec 12 and 13, close any trails east of snowmobile trail. Road closures will be revisited in DevilsLake block plan. Contact Alpena Snowmobile Club in advance of harvests.

Comp 102 (Richard Barber)

  • Stand 42 – Add prescription for final harvest.

Comp 106 (Robert Theiner)

  • All stands – Take periods out of SCAs (not S.C.A.) for easier querying.

Comp 120 (Richard Barber)

  • Comp Header – Comment: Directors order closed roads within SCA.
  • Note - All the stands that are designated stand condition 8 shall be changed to special conservation area (sinkholes) and should any treatments be done, they will enhance and protect that feature.
  • Note: Any stands that are part of Directors road closure order should be noted in the stand comments.
  • Stand 216 – Form a new stand from the part that will be left uncut adjacent to the private property.

Comp 137 (Cody Stevens)

  • Comp Header – Comment: Snowmobile trail may be modified or eliminated through the trail proposal process.
  • Stand 6 – Natural regeneration plan needs to be spelled out. Comment: If natural regeneration fails, plant or seed jack pine.

Comp 139 (Timothy Paulus)

  • Stand 2- Prescribe selection cut. Factor limit for access. Comment: Pay special attention to unique plant species.
  • Stands 26,126 – Prescribe selection cut.Comment: Pay special attention to unique plant species.

Comp 155 (Richard Barber)

  • Every stand west of CR-646 should be coded as noted in work instructions for Black Mountain Recreation area.
  • Stand 34 – Change prescription to thin to 30 BA of red pine.
  • Stand 39 – Comment: Manage for both red pine and white pine.
  • Stand 38 – Prescribe final harvest and planting to red pine.
  • Stand 19 – Prescribe species thinning to remove aspen, red maple, jack pine and some red pine.
  • Map – Add jeep symbol to the snowmobile trail.

Comp 162 (Timothy Paulus)

  • Comp Header – Locked comment: Second level archeological site in Sec 22. There is a GLO Indian Trail through NW sec 27 and western part of sec 22.
  • Stands 24, 25, 26 – Prescribe shelterwood cut. Comment: Remove large diameter red pine down to 60 – 80 BA.
  • Stands 9, 19 – Prescribe final harvest and replanting to red pine. Comment: The oak regeneration that comes back with the planted red pine is acceptable.
  • Map – Remove snowmobile trail showing in southern part of sec 35.

Comp 164 (Timothy Paulus)

  • Stand 19 – Split in half to form stand 119. Stand 19 will remain prescribed. Add comment listing alternative regeneration. Stand 119 will have no prescription.
