Lech Pawlowski CV

Lech Pawlowski, born 27 April 1952 in Wroclaw (Poland), married with 2 children, is Professor of Surface Engineering at the Laboratory SPCTS in University of Limogesin France. His research work concerns mainly different aspects of thermal spraying and laser treatment of materials. His current research is focussed on suspension plasma sprayed ceramic coatings.

He studied Electronic Technology in Wroclaw University of Technology in Poland obtaining his diploma in 1974. After having completed his PhD on vacuum plasma sprayed copper and tantalum coatings in 1978, he obtained a postdoctoral position in France and made a DSc on thermophysical properties of thermal barrier coatings in 1985.

Dr. Pawlowski had worked in thermal spray industry as project manager, consultant and managing director in Germany, Italy and in France. His industrial work wasmainly focussed on the development of anilox and corona rollers.

His research appointments included the positions in The University of Stuttgart (Germany), The Monash University (Melbourne, Australia) and The University of Trento (Italy). Since 1995 he has been appointed as the university professor in France. He has been lecturing on e.g. Surface Treatment, Technology of Powders Manufacturing, and Industrial Chemistry inUniversity of Artois in Béthune (1995-1999), Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Lille (1999-2010) and, starting from 2010 in The University of Limoges. Finally, he has collaborated with professional journal Surface and Coatings Technologyand open access journal Coatings. He initiated in 2003 and keeps organizingevery 2 years the RIPT meetings on thermal spraying in Lille and Limoges (see e.g. 5RIPT website:
