Cross Country Championships Logistical Details
Competitor Numbering
Individual numbering will not be used at this combined 10-12/13-19 Championship: Each runner will have their age group written on the front of their thigh or both arms (whichever is more visible). Note that runners will be handed a position number as they cross the finish line. They hand this number in at the recording desk where it is recorded next to their name. Times are then merged to get our results in each race. BRING A PERMANENT MARKER FOR THIS PLEASE!
Running Attire
Spikes are not allowed and all runners must wear either a school sport singlet or polo shirt or a district singlet.
Students will not be allowed to participate in the Peninsula Cross Country if they are not in school or district uniforms. Please ensure all students are aware of this.
Marshalling
All districts with more than 10 students attending are to supply a supervisor (teacher) to help with course supervision / marshalling for the entire event. This is in addition to the general supervision requirements of students from that district. There will be a compulsory briefing at 8:30am for all district officials. Please provide the mobile phone number the supervisor will have with them on the day. There is room on the nomination form for this detail.
First Aid
Ice and first aid assistance will be available from a designated first aid location, near the finish line. It is expected that first assistance for minor ailments and reassurance of the running type, be provided by district personal. It is a requirement that each district has their own first aid kit.
Parking and shade
PLEASE ADVISE PARENTS TO ARRIVE AFTER 9.00 am, when school dropoff traffic will have subsided. Parking will be along Leftwich and Kidman street adjacent to the oval. Spectators and competitors will utilise the oval banks. (Limited natural shade). Light portable shade structures may be erected in the areas indicated. Shade structures are to be supplied by the districts.
Number of runners
The maximum number of runners chosen to represent schools at district and regional trials is usually dictated by the number of runners allowed to represent our region at state:
10-12 Years Regional Team numbers- 6 per age group
13-19 Years Regional team numbers- 6 per age group
(2 Shadows will be named and on standby if times are run)
Teams: District Team list (attached) MUST be e-mailed to the carnival convenor, Michael Haseldine at by Tuesday 16th May so the entries can be organised. This list is also necessary for the convenor to send in with the regional report.
State Titles for all 10-19 Years Runners: These will be held from 15-17 July 2017 at St Paul’s School (Bald Hills), which is in the Metropolitan North Sport Region.
