Maximum of 1 sole application in a 12 month period. 2nd application allowed if this is supported by an organisation/agency.

Applicants must be resident of Leicestershire upon application, or planning to be so on leaving an institutional setting (not Leicester City or Rutland). Applicant does not have to have been resident for a minimum amount of time.

Will accept applications 6 weeks in advance of leaving care or institution.

Applicants must be over 16

Maximum child age (dependant) is 19

Will accept applications due to benefit related problems, e.g. sanctions, delays. (Will award where there are vulnerabilities

Maximum Award Amount

Will not exceed 60% of standard amount the law says a household needs to live on for a week.

Don’t pay for:

- Lost money where there is not evidence that this has been reported to the police.

- Have previously claimed in the last 12 months (and 2nd application is not supported).

- Applicant has savings or capital in excess of £1,500.

- Applicant has insurance to cover emergency.

- If claim relates to ONLY ONE of the following: emergency housing costs, medically related, work related, debt repayment, vehicle costs, DWP sanction, TV/Radio/Internet costs.
