The ISU Animal Science Judging Club
Constitution
Article I
Section IName
A. This organization shall be known as the ISU Animal Science Judging Club. This organization will abide by University rules and regulations.
Section IIPurpose
- To promote higher scholastic standards among students in the curriculum of Animal Science.
- To promote all phases of judging at Iowa State University and in the State of Iowa.
- To bring about a closer relationship among those pursuing the various phases of Animal Science as a profession.
Article II
Section IMembership
The membership of this organization shall include undergraduates, graduate students, faculty and staff with judging interests.
- Active membership in this organization shall be composed of interested graduate and undergraduate students in the Animal Science Department, the Animal Science Department Faculty, and any other interested student at Iowa State University.
- The club shall not discriminate on the basis of raced, color, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, sex, marital status, disability or status as a US Veteran.
Article III
Section IOfficers
A. The officers of this organization must meet the following requirements.
a. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average as stated below and meet the minimum cumulative GPA in the semester immediately prior to the election /appointment, the semester of election/appointment and semesters during the term of office. For undergraduate students, the minimum GPA is 2.0. In order for this provision to be met, at least six hours (half-time credits) must have been taken for the semester under consideration.
b. Be in good standing with the university and enrolled: at least half time (six or more credit hours), if an undergraduate student (unless fewer credits are required in the final stages of their degree as defined by the Continuous Registration Requirement) duringtheir term of office.
c. Be ineligible to hold an office should the student fail to maintain the requirements as prescribed in (a) and (b).
B. The officers shall be selected in the following order: President, Treasurer, and Adviser.
Section IIDuties
- It shall be the duty of the President to preside at all meetings of the club and to enforce rigid observance of this Constitution and By-Laws.
- It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to receive money due to the Club, to keep an accurate record of the Club finances, to collect all dues and assessments, to pay all orders authorized by the Club and approved by the Club advisor.
Section IIIFaculty Representatives
- The Faculty Advisor is the official faculty representative. It is his or her duty to advise the Club when advice is needed.
- The advisor is selected in May and may serve multiple terms.
- The advisor is selected by majority vote of members present at the May meeting.
Section IVRemoval and Replacement of Officers
- Club Officers may be removed for neglect or incompetence by a 2/3 vote by secret ballot of the members present at meeting.
- Club Officers shall be removed from office when their cumulative grade point average at Iowa State University falls below a 2.00 or when they are not a registered full time student. Under no circumstances will the removed officer be reinstated during the officer year.
- Selection of New Officers
1. Nomination of Club Officers shall be made by the vote of Club membership.
Section VVoting Timeframe
A. The club will elect their officers in May of each year.
B. An officer shall be elected by a majority vote of those present at the election meeting by a show of hand.
C. In such cases where an officer is replaced, such in cases as removal or withdrawal from the office or membership, a special meeting of the club will be held to address the need for replacement. The replacement of said officer will occur following the same procedures as stated in Section IV and V except that the replacement vote will occur within 14 days of the occurrence of this need. The term of the replacement officer will last until the nearest upcoming month of May whence a new election cycle will begin.
Article IV
Section IQuorum
A. A quorum shall consist of one-half of the active members of the Club. No business can be conducted without a quorum being present.
Article V
Section IVoting Membership
A. Voting members shall be students at Iowa State University who have attended meetings in accordance with Article IV, Section I of the By-Laws.
Article VI
Section IA. Amending the Constitution
Two-thirds of the active members present at any meeting shall have the power to amend the Constitution, providing the amendment has been presented in writing and read at the previous Club meeting. Any active member may prepare and present in writing to the Club a proposed amendment to this Constitution.
- Approval by Student Activities Center
Ratified constitutions must be submitted to Student Activities Center for final approval.
Article VII
Section IFinances
A. All monies belonging to this organization shall be deposited and disbursed through a bank account established for this club at Campus Organizations Accounting Office and or approved institution/office and must receive Campus Organizations Accounting Office approval. All funds must be deposited within 48 hours after collection. The Adviser to this club must approve and sign each expenditure before payment.
B. There are no dues required of members for the club.
