NATIONAL RANKING PROCEDURE

1.  Definition:

The National ranking is a list of players in order of playing strength. There is one list each for all events conducted by the SLSF. The system used to rank players is explained below:

Players

·  Win ranking points by playing in the tournaments that are graded.

·  Are ranked if they have played in two or more graded/ranked tournaments

·  Total points earned from the previous six [6] at SLSF ranked tournaments during the last twelve months would be considered

·  Win ranking points by playing and winning matches in ranking tournaments, quarter finals and beyond.

2. Events included in the national rankings:

The Honorary Secretary, from the authentic results submitted by the Chairman Tournament Committee, after each graded/ranked event, compiles the rankings. Present list of tournaments graded by the SLSF are as follows:

. Senior National Squash Championships

. Janashakthi Open Squash Championships

. Otters Open Squash Championships

. SSC Open Squash Championships

. Fingara Open Squash Championships

. Air Force Open Squash Championships

. Austasia Open Squash Championships

. Gymkhana Open Squash Championships

. Trans Asia Open Squash Championships

. Junior Nationals [For Juniors only]

. Royal College Open squash Champions

. Trans Asia Open Squash Championships

More new events could be included by the SLSF if & when considered necessary.

3. Points system:

Players win points according to how far they progress in the draw of a particular event.

Points are awarded for players who reach the quarterfinals and beyond in any particular event.

Player must play at least one match and win to qualify for points. If there are insufficient entries for any event, players will not qualify for points on the basis of their position in the draw.

If a player had a bye/walk over up to the QF round and lose in the SF,

They do not receive any points. It applies to the other positions as well.

4.  Allocation of points:

Winner 16 points

Runner Up 14 points

3rd Place 12 points

4th Place 10 points

5th Place 08 points

6th Place 06 points

7th Place 04 points

8th Place 02 points

Plate Winner 01 point

Note: If circuit draw is not conducted due to any reason, all losing quarter finalists will get 04 [four] points each. Play Off for 3rd/4th Places must be played at all tournaments.

If two or more players have the identical number of points, player with most recent success would be placed higher on the list but ranked equal.

Eg: If three players are ranked 1 to 3 and next three players with equal points, ranking would be 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 4, 7, 8 etc.

Any player who holds a World Rank below 150 would be placed higher than others despite not having any ranking points earned locally.

5. National ranking list - Publication:

The Sri Lanka Squash Federation will publish the National Rankings, after every graded tournament.

6. All National Pool players are advised to take part in all graded tournaments conducted and approved by the Sri Lanka Squash Federation, and be with in the top ranks to be eligible to remain in the National pool or to be considered for trials to select National Teams.
