Happy Christmas everyone – they come around too quick for me!!

Remember to send to me anything you would like to see in the newsletter at

This month contains two articles and a challenge - next months will feature an article from Jennifer (Baker) and hopefully recipies that we will include every issue (if you like them) – they will also be on the Croakies website soon for you to look at and copy –

It`s good to talk – even better to listen!!

One of the most important functions of the Croakies group is it`s ability to listen to anybody – have an understanding and total empathy with them – and it shows that it works well because of the success of our group!

The need to off-load or have a “tiny whinge” is the heartbeat of the group and it brings out an honesty and trust between us all. If we have a problem or a question it is the perfect forum to discuss it without fear or embarrassment.

It comes down to the fact that we have all been there, got the tee shirt and the key ring etc! - we all learn something new about each other every time and draw on that knowledge to find the strength and courage to adapt to the “new normal in life” we have arrived at!

I found myself talking about feeling depressed (after 10+ years!) and it was good to talk openly and show that we are all vulnerable to the dark days – it`s good to talk!

A funny thing happened in the car park!!

(or was it a senior moment!!)

The other week when I called in at the surgery for my prescriptions – I came out and got into the car ,sat down, put the key in the ignition and all hell broke loose with alarms going of everywhere!!

After a few choice words I got out of the car and started pushing buttons –closing car-doors and all sorts of useless things!! – nothing doing -alarm still going!! – ( a few more expletives) I am stood in the car park with people looking at me as if I am trying to steal my own car!

Those of you that know me are aware that I have eyesight in one eye and am profoundly deaf in my right ear – this does not help you with “spacial awareness” – in other words you have no idea where this damn noise is coming from!!!

After what seemed like an age of embarrassment I dug out the manual (which was too small a print for me to read!) – tried everything – totally hopeless – it`s still going off! – that`s it ring the dealer come and take the damn thing away etc etc.!! (few more expletives!)

Took my mobile out to ring them up and LOW AND BEHOLD it was the phones own SOS alarm going off!! – I must have crushed the button when I sat down – silly me (or words to that effect) – IT WAS ME GOING OFF NOT THE CAR!!

Serious Senior Moment! – left the car park to the cheers of the crowd – who had now gathered to help me – the question I ask myself why did none of them realise it was me going off?
