Expectations and Information

Student Expectations:

1.  To strive for the highest academic standards. STAY ELIGIBLE.

2.  To come to practice everyday and BE ONTIME.

3.  To complete every workout/practice/meet WITHOUT EXCUSES.

4.  To represent Trevor Browne positively. MAKE TGB LOOK GOOD.

Your Workouts (PRACTICE):

It is vital that you come to practice every day and complete the entire workout. Your success and the team’s success is dependant on your commitment to completing every workout.

Practice is every day after school at 3:30.

Parent Expectations:

1.  Support you child both academically and athletically.

2.  Make sure your child is well hydrated (water) and nourished.

3.  Provide transportation to and from Trevor Browne after practice.

4.  Contact the coach immediately if you have any issues.

Parents – Thank you for supporting your child in athletics.

Grades/Eligibility/Academic Intervention Plan:

Trevor Browne has built in a 45 minute Advisory period every day. Students should be doing homework or getting help from teachers during this time.

HOW DO YOU LETTER:

Receiving a Varsity Letter:

1.  Compete in a minimum of three (3) invites or compete in the District Track Meet.

2.  Be a Senior and successfully complete the season.

Receiving a Junior Varsity Letter:

1.  Compete in a minimum of five (5) meets.

2.  End the season in good standing with the team.

WHEN WILL YOU BE ELIGIBLE TO GET A UNIFORM/ATTEND 1ST MEET:

1.  Complete clearance packet and give card/paper to Mika

2.  Be eligible – Passing all classes (your uniform will be taken back if on NO PASS)

3.  COMPLETE 10 Conditioning workouts with Coach Mika

A letter from the Coaches

Congratulations on deciding to join the 2017 Track Team. The Trevor Browne Track Team has over 70 athletes that have decided to make the commitment of participating in a high school sport.

Track is a unique sport because it is both individual and a team sport. There are 17 events so there are events for everyone.

Sprints:

100 Meter, 200 Meter, 400 Meter, 4 x 100 Relay, 4 x 400 Relay

Hurdles:

100/110 High Hurdles, 300 Intermediate Hurdles

Mid/Long Distance:

800 Meter, 1600 Meter, 3200 Meter, 4x 800 Relay

Jumps:

Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault

Weights:

Shot Put, Discus, Javelin (non-scoring event)

To be successful, the athlete needs to be at practice every day and complete all the workouts to the best of his/her ability.

There are two types of Track Meets, Wednesday practice meets and Invites

Wednesday Meets – Everyone will compete if eligible

Invites: Only Varsity will participate – Usually top 3 in each event. Medals!!!

As Coaches we are here for your success. We have an open door policy and welcome and enjoy talking to the athletes throughout the day. Please feel free to check in with us as much as you can. Parents are welcome at all practices and encouraged to come cheer on the kids at the Track Meets.

Track Shirt Order Form

Trevor Browne will do its best to provide athletes with a uniform to use for the season so this is optional if you want your own track shirt. You may where this shirt at Wednesday Track meets, practice or during PE class.

If you want to order a track shirt:

Pay at the Book Store and bring receipt to Coach Mika.

$10 cash or check paid to Trevor Browne Runners Club by February 10th
