Reading: Target Skill: Main Idea Target Strategy: Summarize

Writing: Introduce “Pow Tide” and Narrative Writing
Math: Review kindergarten skills and task based learning
Spelling: We will be working on spelling short “a” words. Our spelling words will be from the –at, -an, -ad, and -am word families. That means our spelling words will end in one of these endings. I will not send home a spelling list. Students will need to use their sounds and spell their words on their own. Parents can practice by having their child write a word that has the ending sound that I have provided. For example, ask your child to spell “sat” because it has the “at” ending sound.

Readers will also go home each evening and can be read independently or together.
Each week’s homework will go home on Monday and needs to be returned by the following Friday.
