LET THERE BE PEACE
Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me;
Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be.
With God our creator, children all are we.
Let us walk with each other in perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me; let this be the moment now.
With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow.
To take each moment and live each moment in peace eternally,
Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me

INTROIT Spiritual “It’s Alright”
*CALL TO WORSHIP
One: Lift up your souls to the Living God, who enters into covenant with us.
All: We wait on our Creator, trusting God’s kindness and seeking to know God’s ways.
One: Raise your eyes to behold the risen Christ, who triumphs over death and chaos.
All: In Jesus Christ we renew our commitment to share the good news of God’s salvation.
One: Attune yourselves to the Holy Spirit’s gifts and leave behind the wilderness of despair.
All: The Spirit sets us free from limits of the past, from bondage to the things that change and pass away.
*HYMN OF PRAISE (Words on Insert)
“We Are Marching”
CALL TO CONFESSION Don Pope God has instilled in us a vision of humanity, why we are here and what we are to become. Inexplicably, each of us resists God and follows our own path. But God is patient and acts toward us as a loving parent. In Jesus he shows us the better way and invites us to come to our senses and confess our need for repentance and new life.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION – Congregation
Holy God, in the daily round from sunrise to sunset, remind us again of your holy presence hovering near us and in us. Free us from anxiety and self-doubt. Help us to see you in the moment-by-moment possibilities to live honestly, to act courageously, and to speak from our wisdom. Free us from guilt associated with past actions that we thought was left behind. Breathe upon us the spirit of freedom that equips us to be the mature human beings you intend us to be, living out the call to follow Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen.
SILENT MEDITATION AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our custom is to join hands for the Lord’s Prayer.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
WORDS OF ASSURANCE – Liturgist
Jesus came to save those who admitted they could not live life on their own terms. He was a friend of sinners and outcasts. Those who perceived a God-shaped hole in their souls heard him gladly, eager to believe Jesus’ good news that their old life need not define them. To all who turn to him, he will never cast out. In Jesus Christ, our sins are forgiven.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH – Congregation
We believe in the God who unites us in peace and love, who is above all and through all and in all. We honor that which is of God in all creation. We believe in the God who in Jesus Christ descended to the depths of pain, and ascended to the heights of human experience. We honor that which is of God in our humanity. We believe in the God who gives life and breath to the body of which we are a part, the worldwide Christian church, and gives to all, gifts that are sacred and individual to each. We honor that which is of God in our community, beginning in Coronado, and extending throughout the world.
*THE HYMN RESPONSE Paul E. Hoffman
There is nothing in the heav’ns above, nor in hidden depths of earth
that can keep the Savior’s love from us, for by his sinless death
God’s Son has conquered ev’ry foe. There is nothing left to fear.
For God’s love, God’s love is always near.
