Paragraph Writing – Cycle 2

Topic: Halloween

Due: Day 6

For your paragraph this cycle you will write about one Halloween activity. To write this paragraph, you are to do the following:

  1. Make a list of as many activities as you can think of that are connected with Halloween.
  1. Choose one of the activities, and make a list of all the words you can that describe that one activity.
  1. Using some of the words generated in your second list, describe the one Halloween activity you have chosen in a good paragraph.

You must include both lists, both the draft and final copy of your paragraph, and this assignment sheet. Remember, a good paragraph will have a topic sentence, which will catch the interest of the reader. It will often have 4 – 6 sentences which support the topic sentence, and a concluding sentence.

You will be evaluated on the following criteria:

Matters of Correctness / Each sentence begins and ends correctly (capitals, punctuation). / 5

Neatness / The paragraph is written neatly in black or blue ink, or typed. / 3
Submitted paragraph / The brainstorming lists, draft copy(ies) and final copy of the paragraph, and the assignment sheet (this sheet) were submitted. / 2
