2014 Janesville Lacrosse Club Board of Director Candidates

Election - June 10, 2014

Chad Combs - My name is Chad Combs and I am running for a second term on the Lacrosse board. Please consider me as a candidate for the next upcoming term. I have two son's that started playing Lacrosse in 2008 when the youth program began. So began my love of the game and a desire to improve the experience of playing Lacrosse. I believe that coaches need to work together and are unified in coaching from U-9 all the way through to the Varsity level, by each building upon the next to be playing at the highest levels. My priority for the Janesville Lacrosse Club is securing adequate and permanent field space within the City of Janesville. My dream is to have a facility for lacrosse as nice as Janesville Youth Football and Janesville Youth Baseball. The popularity of Lacrosse is growing so rapidly that I truly believe that it is attainable. I have a vision for the future of the Janesville Lacrosse Club to continue to grow and be sustainable in the coming years and for many years to come. I am dedicated to improving the club for the enjoyment of all who desire to play and uphold the spirit of lacrosse. Thank you for your consideration.

John Haney – My name is John Haney. I am the founder of the Janesville Lacrosse Club as well as the club’s current President. I have served on the JLC Board of Directors: President (2006-2011, 2012-present), Vice President 2011 and Varsity Head Coach (2007-2011). I also served on the Madison Area Lacrosse Association Board of Directors (2007-2011). President (2007- 2009), Past President (2009-2011) and Interim Treasurer (2010-2011). In addition, I served on the Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation Board of Directors (2007-2012). Women's College Director (2011) and Boys' High School Director (2011-2012). I am a US Lacrosse certified Level 2 Men’s Coach and as well as a certified Level 1 Women’s Coach. I have two children involved in lacrosse Carter (14) and Grace (8). I would like to continue growing the sport in this area. My focus as always will be on keeping lacrosse affordable and maintaining PCA Positive Coaching Association principles.

Lee Krueger - My name is Lee Krueger and I am running for the Janesville Lacrosse Club board of directors. I have been involved with youth sports as a coach since 1990, having coached football, baseball, basketball and lacrosse. My involvement with JLC began in 2008 when the first of my four boys (Trent, Nick, Brett & Kyle) started playing. I have been coaching at the JLC youth level since we began it four years ago. This current season I was an assistant coach on the U15 team. I have also served two consecutive terms on the JLC board of directors. It’s been very exciting to be a part of the program. Lacrosse has basically become an addiction in our family, having converted all four of my boys from baseball to lacrosse. We just simply love the game and it’s been very exciting to watch the program grow over the years. We are finally getting to the point where we are competitive with virtually any team in the state. The future is very bright, especially now that kids with youth experience are on the varsity squad. The increase in skilled players has become evident and we also have a very good coaching staff on JV and varsity. Next year should be even more successful. My philosophy on youth sports is that the fun of the game should still always be the number one priority, especially at the youth level. I feel as though my youth sports experience and people skills combined with my professional approach to problem solving will help me be an asset to the JLC board of directors.

John MacDougall - A past JLC board President with a great passion for the game of lacrosse. Has held multiple board positions in the past which include V.P. for the Executive board of the Delavan Lake Yacht Club, 2nd V.P. for the Janesville Youth Hockey Club with the responsibility for all fundraising activities and the past President of the Janesville Lacrosse Club. I have coached multiple teams in both hockey and lacrosse. I currently am the International Sales Manager at Prent Corporation and have a lot of experience working within a team environment. I am interested in giving back to the club that has provided such a great experience for my son and want to help provide the same to future JLC members.

Kristina Nielsen -My name is Kristina Nielsen. I am a working mother of 4 children. Alex, will be a senior next year and is active in Soccer. Harley, will be a junior and is active in Volleyball and track and was the first girl to sign up for high school girls lacrosse. Mathew, is twelve and on the U13 team, he has played lacrosse since 3rd grade and also plays football for JYF. Cameron is three and active in everything. My husband Bill has coached for 4 years with the club.

I would like to be considered for a seat on the Janesville Lacrosse Board for the 2014-2016 elections. I have been involved in the club for 4 years since my oldest started playing in 8th grade. I served on the fundraising committee for 1 year before becoming the chairperson 2 years ago. While serving as the chair we raised over $2500 in 2013 and over $3000 so far for 2014. I am always looking for ways to raise money to keep our fees at a minimum and also love getting the kids involved in these fundraisers as a way to give back to the club and our community. I have served as a board member for 2 years, taking over as Secretary after our previous Secretary stepped down. I am currently in the process of getting a girls program up and running with scheduled field days for this season in hopes of fielding a competitive high school team for next season. I have taken necessary action to become a qualified Woman’s coach and will become certified as soon as a clinic becomes available. I am enjoying watching this club grow and looking forward to being a part of bigger growth.

Thank you for your consideration.
