Menu Project

Project 5 (2-3 Blocks)

**You may work with a partner to complete this project **

Create a Menu:For this project, you will create a menu. You will work on the design of this publication in two steps. You may choose any template design you would like for your menu as long as it fits on 8 ½ X 11 paper. (Bi-fold, tri-fold, etc.) If you are unsure of the template design please ask for help. You may use Publisher, InDesign,or Pages.

  • Step 1 – Design the menu exterior. The menu will be laid out like a booklet or a tri-fold brochure. Each panel will be created as an individual page. The pages will print so that they are laid out in the correct order when the paper they are on is folded like a booklet or tri-fold brochure
  • Step 2 – Design the menu interior/content. You will use tabs and leaders, applied styles, and a second master page to give your menu a clear and consistent design.

When you print your menu, you will see the software automatically arranges the pages so that the cover and interior print correctly. You will use duplex printing.

Remember menus come in all different shapes, sizes, and layouts. A menu might be one single-side page or six double-sided pages folded like a book. The design choice depends upon the amount of content, the budget, and the message that the restaurant wants to convey to its customers.

The choice of layout/design is yours. Search the Internet if you would like some ideas. Be creative and have fun!
