Thank you for your enquiry. Please find enclosed a note about the foundation of Truro & Penwith College, a job description and an application form. We are seeking applicants with appropriate academic and professional qualifications who are committed professionals able to share their enthusiasm with students.
Lecturer in Carpentry and Joinery
Our current Construction provision consists of full time courses and apprenticeships from entry level to advanced in the majority of trade areas including: Painting & Decorating, Bricklaying, Craft Masonry, Bench Joinery, Site Carpentry and Carpentry & Joinery.
The successful candidate will be teaching and assessing on Carpentry and Joinery courses, both full time and apprenticeships from level one to level three, Carpentry and Joinery, Bench Joinery and Site Carpentry. As we to look to expand our provision in Construction an interest in promoting new courses and expanding existing provision would be advantageous.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced, qualified tradesperson who is a lively and enthusiastic lecturer and can contribute significantly to the programme area. Previous experience of teaching and assessing on the above Carpentry & Joinery courses would be an advantage. Applicants should have at least five years relevant industry experience and a trade related level 3 qualification. Teaching qualifications plus assessor and/or verifier awards would also be desirable. The individual appointed will also act as a tutor to groups of students and will share responsibility for course development, management and review in the area.
We are looking for individuals who work with confidence with a wide variety of ability levels, who are committed team members and who project an enthusiasm for the subject area. We would like to appoint the successful candidate as soon as possible.
Details of contracts and of associated employment policies will be made available to candidates who are called to attend for interview. The lecturer scale is divided into a number of bands:-
B £24,222 - £26,324
C £27,841 - £31,153
D £32,658 - £35,969
The precise band on which the post will be offered will be finally determined at interview.
For candidates with appropriate qualifications and experience there is the possibility of a Deputy Team Leader role in the programme team on a salary scale ranging from £38,358-£40,648.
