November 4th, 2016

Dear Parents,

We have a new and very special Football team at school! The best footballers from Years One and Two went to a Football Festival yesterday with Miss Eastman and Miss Rogers. Not only were the children amazingly well behaved but they played magnificently. Miss Eastman said she “could have burst with pride” as they did so well.

Fantastic playing from Tristan Francis, Edoardo Cencini, Leon Ganje Day, Freddie Blackmun O’Brien, Teddy Driscoll, Jasmine Innes, Nathan Surafel, Leo Toptsis, Edward Allan and Alma Palmer. They won all five of their games scoring 19 goals and conceding only 4! Jasmine was also awarded a special medal and QPR teddy bear for displaying great team work. We are all very proud of them!

St. Saviour’s App!

We are now up to over 160 parents who have registered for the St. Saviour’s app – this is going to revolutionise our communications with you so please sign up over the weekend. This newsletter is going to be sent for the first time next weekas well as by via the app (I will also send it by ordinary e-mail as well).

If you have not signed up for the app, please go to the Apple Store or Google Play Store to download the app for free. It is easy to register but if you experience any problems, please email Miss Lorimer and she can investigate or help you.

School Uniform

It is no longer possible to buy school uniform from school. I have attached another copy of the information sheet provided by Stitch Design our new uniform supplier. The service was officially starting on November 1st so if you have already ordered some uniform, please give it a day or two to arrive. If you have any problems, please do not hesitate to contact me so I can help you.

PTA News

The results of the International Evening fund raiser are now in and I am delighted to announce you helped us to raise £1877.30 which is a record for this event. We are now looking forward to the Christmas Bazaar which will take place on Saturday 26th November from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Class Reps have the details and will be in contact with you regarding helping on the stalls.

We are looking for some Very Special Santa Helpers to assist Mr. Higgins with the clearing up at the end of the event. We promise a special Santa or Chief Elf hat to help you on your way as well as a special photograph in the Newsletter to show your hard work!

The PTA Committee and Class Reps are very excited about two new events which will be happening this school year. Firstly, we are going to launch The St. Saviour’s 100 Club at the beginning of the new term in January. To make this a success, we need 100 people to commit to paying £5 a month to take part. We will be offering £150 prize money each month which will mean the school will benefit to the tune of £350 per month. There will be a draw each month (with two in July and none in August) so there is a chance for everyone to win. I will be sending out a form for you to express interest early next week.

Secondly, we are going to run a Bingo Night! This suggestion was greeted with much excitement and we have already bought the computer program, Bingo Books and the Dabbers (pens to mark the numbers!). Please keep an eye open for the date coming your way soon.

Re-Organised Whole School Photograph – Thursday 17th November

We were all very disappointed that the re-organised whole school photograph had to be abandoned due to bad weather – again! However, I am so very pleased that Westminster Academy has come to our rescue and offered us a space during their photographic sessions on November 17th. This is very kind of them and is a direct result of former pupil Malachy Gunn speaking to the Principal, Dr. Rana about the problems we were having.

I will be sending out more information next week but please be forewarned that Nursery, Reception and Year One will need to meet us at Westminster Academy on the Harrow Road at approximately 9:00 a.m. Other classes will walk to the Academy for the photo and we will all walk back.

All Nursery children will be finishing at 12:00 noon on the 17th due to the Parent Teacher Meetings. Please note we will not be serving lunch to them on this day.

Parent Teacher Meetings will be held on Tuesday 15th and Thursday 17th November. If you have not sent back your appointment request time, please do so on Monday.

Smartie tubes

Most children have now brought in their re-filled Smartie tubes and we are going to start counting an enormous container of them on Monday. All donations we receive will be sent to The Passage which looks after homeless people in Central London. If you have yet to return your tube, please do so as soon as possible.

Operation Christmas Child – Supporting the Samaritans

The closing date for receiving the Shoebox Christmas Presents for Samaritan’s Purse is next Friday 11th November. We have received a good number of these already but need to reach 100 in order for a dedicated van to collect them for school. Otherwise, Mr. Higgins will have to take them all in his car – so if you would like to ensure he doesn’t have to spend time away from school, please fill a box over the weekend! If you do not have a spare shoe box, we can find one for you.

Christmas Card Designs – we are no longer able to accept any designs for this project as the closing date is past.

Wrap Around Bookings

We have had a number of parents booking into Wrap Around and then changing their minds during the day. This causes us problems as we need to ensure there are enough adults present to look after the children. In future, 24 hours’ notice is required for any cancellation otherwise, parents will be charged the full amount for this service.

Buster’s Weekend Friend: Thinking of Others

Buster will be spending the weekend with Mia McGee-Johnson as she is such a wonderful friend to everyone. She has great empathy with everyone and if anyone is upset or in need of help, Mia is always there to offer her support. She is a kind and caring member of our school who is keen to help out and do her best in everything. Brilliant!

Teacher Angel: This week’s Teacher Angel is Mr. Dan. The children feel he is kind and generous. He uses a log of his free time to teach us new ways to stay healthy. They think he is really fun to learn from and are really glad he is at our school to help them stay healthy and fit. As Mr. Dan doesn’t work on Fridays, this happy news was relayed to him via mobile phone! Needless to say, he was very happy!
