SCMC General Meeting

March 27, 2013

The meeting was called to order at 7:01 pm by President Jason Ratliff.

Guests were Steven and Carolyn Redmond and Rick and Sandy LeBret.

Treasurer’s Report: $2,465.94 in checking and $2,006.59 in Savings.

An update of the Show Committee meeting was presented. There will not be any special classes this year. It was suggested to split the SOB class into 1969 and older and 1970 and newer. That would make a total of 45 classes. The club members agreed and thought this was a good idea as we usually have 12 or more cars in this class.

The Show Committee also decided that there will not be pre-registration this year. Everyone will pay $20.00 the day of the show. The reason for the change is those that pre register chose their class and then change when they get to the show. This creates a lot of confusion during our busiest time.

Also discussed was changing the Pony Trails to include a restaurant in the evening instead of another drive-in meal. Front Street instead of Kings Row has been suggested and is still in the planning process.

The following is a list of upcoming shows and events that were discussed during our meeting.

·  Portland Swap Meet, April 4-7.

·  Custom Car and Cycle Show , April 6 and 7

·  Zillah Spring Fling. April 20

·  Old Steel Car Club, Union Gap, April 28

·  Yakima Eagles Car Show, May 4

·  American Reflections, Moxee, May 19

·  Selah Community Days, May 18.

·  PNWMC Memorial Day Weekend, Tri-Cities, May 25 and 26.

·  Mustang Wranglers Show, Hillsboro, June 1

·  Children’s Wishes and Dreams Convoy of Wishes, June 22

·  Community Days, Goldendale, July 6

·  Belleview Show, July 18-21.

·  Mustangs on the Waterfront, Portland July 28.

In an effort to try to do more as a club, on April 10, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. we are meeting at the Peppermint Stick. It was determined the Club would meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month and visit a different drive-in each time.

Con Magnum won the 50/50 Raffle and Dave Hawkins the door prize.

Velda stated there are still openings on her sign-up sheet for the Coffee Stop. If you want to sign up, please contact Velda. Items needed are: coffee, cocoa (3 cans), coffee creamer (1 large), sugar (5lb pounds), napkins, cookies, cups and bottled water (4 cases).

Meeting adjourned at 8:08 pm

There was a good turn out for our first scheduled cruise in held at Pepper mint stick in Union Gap. The wind had blown all day, but it finally died down a little in the evening for the event. It was still too cool to spend any time outside with the cars so we enjoyed our time together inside with our choice of refreshments. New members, Steven and Carolyn Redmond were in attendance.

A new request for information has been received from the website. Allison Lopez [2]

I am interested in: Having members of the club drive in our event.

West Valley's MAKE THE CHANGE Fundraiser Car Show Join us to make a better community by fighting against bullying because together we can. So come and MAKE THE CHANGE. Contact Kris Dennison, Senior project Mentor for Allison Lopez, at West Valley High School, to enter your vehicle. 9800 Zier Road Yakima, WA 98903 Sun country Mustang Club, Hello my name is Allison Lopez. I’m junior at West valley High School and I'm doing my project. I really need your help. I’m having a car show in support of anti-bullying. The money raised at this event will help me expand my message. The reason why I chose this project is because I myself have been bullied and it hurts going through everyday knowing that there will be someone who will treat you in such a way that all you think about is ending your life.

The main reason is my sister, when she was 9 years old, the bullying started. She is a little over weight so people make fun of her because of it and now that she is 12 years old, she is currently going to therapy do to the consequences of bullying. I would like to not only help my sister, but everyone who has or is experiencing this horrible nightmare. I saw your website and I was blown away by your cars and I would LOVE to have your club join me to MAKE THE CHANGE for a better tomorrow. I believe that with your help, more people will come and help support this cause. Everyone is special and different, no one deserves to be treated badly. I know how many people like to attend car shows and how many people like to show-off their amazing cars (such as yours). I NEED your help. Please attend. The more people that I can get, the better chance it will be to stand hand in hand to make a sound for a voice unheard. At this event I plan on giving away bracelets that on one side it will say “MAKE THE CHANGE” and on the other side it will say “ Sound 4 a Voice Unheard”. I also plan on selling snacks. I really hope to see you there. For any more information, please e-mail me at or you can contact my Mentor Kris Dennison at Once again the date is Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 3:45 pm. Thank you sincerely, Allison Lopez

THE SENILITY PRAYER :

1.  Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.

2.  These days about half the stuff in my shopping cart says, 'For fast relief.'

3.  It's scary when you start making the same noises as your coffee maker.

4.  Know how to prevent sagging? Just eat till the wrinkles fill out.

5.  My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

6.  An elderly woman decided to prepare her will and told her preacher she had two final requests. First, she wanted to be cremated, and second, she wanted her ashes scattered over Wal-Mart. 'Wal-Mart?' the preacher exclaimed. 'Why Wal-Mart?' 'Then I'll be sure my daughters visit me twice a week'

7.  I feel like my body has gotten totally out of shape, so I got my doctor's permission to join a fitness club and start exercising. I decided to take an aerobics class for seniors. I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down, and perspired for an hour but, by the time I got my leotards on, the class was over

8.  I've sure gotten old! I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement, new knees, fought prostate cancer and diabetes. I'm half blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine, take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts. Have bouts with dementia. Have poor circulation; hardly feel my hands and feet anymore. Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92. Have lost all my friends. But, thank God, I still have my driver's license.

9.  The nice thing about being senile is you can hide your own Easter eggs and have fun finding them.

10.  Reporters interviewing a 104-year-old woman: 'And what do you think is the best thing about being 104?' the reporter asked.. She simply replied, 'No peer pressure.'

11.  Just before the funeral services, the undertaker came up to the very elderly widow and asked, 'How old was your husband?' '98,' she replied... 'Two years older than me' 'So you're 96,' the undertaker commented.. She responded, 'Hardly worth going home, is it?
