2017 Lock Guidelines

- All players who are listed as locks shall notify the age group commissioner no later than the completion of the evaluations for that age group. No locks will be accepted past this point.

- Each head coach is allowed 3 locks.

- Each lock will perform regular evaluations as well as a "lock" evaluation to be conducted after regular evaluations are over for the player’s age group.

- Any player locked without a parent helping assist coach, must have written approval from the parents that it is ok for the player to be locked by the head coach.

- Locked player evaluations will be conducted by the football board and evaluated by board members who are not associated with the locked players age group.

- Locked player evaluation scores will be completed and turned into the football board/commissioner

- Locked player evaluation results will be compiled and presented at the draft

-The age group commissioners will gather the sheets and input into a spreadsheet throwing out the highest and lowest rank for each player. This will establish a numeric rank for each player.

-The top 50% of ranked players will be placed in the 1st three rounds of the draft (3 highest rated in the 1st round, next 3 rated in the 2nd round and the remainder in the 3rd round). No show locks will not count towards total and will be automatically placed in 1st round (there could be more than 3 locks in the 1st round). “Exceptions approved by Football commissioner.

-If a team has two 1st round draft locks (ranked or no shows); those picks will count as their 1st and 2nd round picks and they will be required to skip their 5th round pick. If a team has two 1st round locks AND a 2nd round lock; that will count as their 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks and they will be required to skip their 5th round pick. In the unlikely event that a team has three 1st round locks; they will count as 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks and they will be required to skip their 4th round selection.

-If a team has two players placed in any other round of the draft (other than the 1st), those picks will count in that round and the next, but they will not be required to skip a round. (Example: a team has 2 players slotted in the 3rd round, they would count towards their 3rd and 4th round picks, but they would not be required to skip the 5th round).

-The bottom 50% will be placed in reverse order from 8th round back through 5th in “2’s”(bottom 2 in the 8th round, next 2 in the 7th round, next 2 in the 6th round and remainder in the 5th).

-If there are an odd number of locks, the additional player will be in the top 50%. (If there are 15 locks, 8 in the top 50%and 7 in the bottom 50%)

-In the event that 2 or more players have the same numerical ranking after the high and low have been eliminated, a coin will be tossed by commissioner to determine ranking.

-In the event that a team is required to skip a 4th or 5th round selection due to lock ranking, team sizes will be balanced at the end of the draft with “hat picks”.
