A RESOLUTION honoring Betty A. Savage upon the occasion of her 80th birthday.

WHEREAS, on February 23, 1932, Betty A. Savage was born to Mr. Bert Berry Jones and Mrs. Bessie Watson Jones in Atlanta, Georgia. Along with her two sisters and three brothers, the Jones family moved to Louisville, Kentucky, when Mrs. Savage was five years old; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Savage attended and graduated from Louisville Public Schools and attained her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Louisville in Sociology. Due to her belief in the power of higher education, Mrs. Savage ensured that opportunity for each of her seven children. Combined, her children hold four Bachelor's Degrees, four Master's Degrees, and two have studied at the doctoral level; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Savage spent the early part of her career as a dental hygienist, then dedicated 20 years of her life to the youth of Jefferson County Juvenile Services, where she made a difference in each life she touched. Her care and compassion for children in need continues on in her retirement, as she has worked with the youth at Seven Counties Mental Health Services; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Savage also spent time as a substitute teacher in a number of Jefferson County Public Schools and spent three years as the preferred substitute teacher for Western Middle School; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Savage is devoted to her church, as an avid volunteer in Sunday school, with the usher board, and for the women's and senior ministries. She is also dedicated to serving and caring for others, from fundraising for the March of Dimes to providing neighbors with home-cooked meals; and

WHEREAS, while Mrs. Savage is a fervent reader and thoroughly enjoys her bunco club, the love and care she has for her family comes first, as she provides them with endless love, support, and wise counsel;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate honors Betty A. Savage upon the occasion of her 80th birthday and extends its warmest birthday wishes to her on this very special day.

Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator Gerald A. Neal, Room 255, Capitol Annex, for delivery.
