The Covenant Cooperative Nursery School is a state-licensed preschool program, sponsored by the Evangelical Covenant Church of Riverside, Rhode Island. In addition, CCNS is also a recipient of a four-star rating from BrightStars, the Quality Rating System for Rhode Island childcare centers.

With an interest for the whole child, the preschool has a curriculum content aligned with the RI Early Learning & Development Standards. Healthy growth and development is encouraged in all learning domains: Physical Health and Motor Development, Social and Emotional Development, Language Development, Literacy, Cognitive Development, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Creative Arts. In addition, we include a spiritual domain, as we seek to nurture a child's developing awareness of God and his/her relationship with Him. God is presented as our loving heavenly Father, creator of all, and Jesus as God’s Son, our Savior and personal friend. Bible stories, prayer and songs of praise are included in our program throughout the school year.

Children who will be four by September 1st are eligible to enter the three-day program; children must be toilet ready. Classes are limited to fifteen children. Both Full Tuition and Co-op Tuition plans are offered. In the All-Day and program, parents who choose the co-op option will be scheduled only for the morning session.

Classes for four-year-olds are held on MWF

with several options for class times:

All-Day class, 9:00am-2:30pm

Half-Day class, 9:00-11:30am (with Extended Day option)

Half Day class, 12:00-2:30pm

We provide an opportunity for parents to participate in the classroom by offering a Cooperative Plan. A co-op parent agrees to serve as a teacher’s assistant for one day each month. Participation in a training workshop is required for all new parents who wish to serve in this program. The workshop is held in September during school hours. Under DCYF regulations, all parent assistants in the program are required to complete a national background check, including fingerprinting at their local police department. Complete information about these prerequisites will be sent with the confirmation of your child’s enrollment.

To request information and/or schedule a visit to the preschool, call the CCNS office at 433-3196. Priority enrollment for currently enrolled families is held during the first two weeks of January; open enrollment begins on the third week of January. Early registration is advised.
