District 2
Starting around the beginning of December, Lucas, Wood and the Northwood Outpost garages split (half of the employees work the first shift and the other half work the second shift) into two shifts. The first shift works 4:00 am to noon and the second starts at noon and works until 8:00 pm. These are their normal working hours from the beginning of December to about the middle to third week of March. So for our District, I see the need for the stock room to be open from December 1st thru March 31st between 4:00 am to 8:00 pm. They will each have one mechanic or auto tech. For Wood County, we have a third mechanic who normally works between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. When the garage is in a snow event, this third mechanic will either work the A shift or B shift depending on how the event is shaping up.
District 3
Our counties operate various shifts and various hours – The District, where the store is to be located, which is also the sole mechanic operation for Ashland County is as follows:
Year round we have our mechanics on 4-10s with some off on Monday and some on Friday meaning we have technicians from 6:00am to 4:30pm – 5 days per week. (Holiday weeks are 4-8s)
In the winter we rotate 2 of our technicians on shifts to match the Ashland county shifts, so the beginning time sometimes changes based on the county – last year it was 8:00 shift change and the year before 9:00. Out winter shift works as follows – we have one tech start at (shift change) 8:00am and work until 4:00pm if OT required due to snowing they stay until 8:00pm. The next regular shift comes in at 8:00pm and works until 4:00am and if snowing stays until 8:00am. This is for 5 days and then the weekend is overtime as needed with the same hours. While 2 technicians work the snow and ice shift described the core group of techs work 6:00am to 4:30pm as in summer.
We try to keep 7 technicians in the garage and spread them among these shifts.
District 4
Our primary shifts from November 1st to the end of March are 4:00 a.m. to noon then second shift noon to 8:00 p.m. These are Monday to Friday. When it is snowing these shifts are expended to cover 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. for a 24/5 operation. When it snows on the weekend, we cover shifts according to the forecast.
We have 24 auto tech/mechanics. They work on the shifts described above.
District 12
We overlap our auto techs and mechanics in District 12 to assure coverage throughout the day but to make it simple we have at a minimum (when not in a snow or storm situation)
8 Mechanics and auto Techs, on duty between 12:00 mid and 8:00 a.m.
8 Mechanics and auto Techs, on duty between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
8 Mechanics and auto Techs, on duty between 3:30 p.m. and 12:00 mid.
Monday thru Friday, andon weekends we may keep the same schedule or go to 12 hour shifts, if on 12 hour shifts we will have 12 auto techs or mechanics on each shift.
