Emmanuel PCC, Preston / £1,000 / Big Community Day / The money will be used for games and machines to attract people to attend e.g. Rodeo machine, bouncy castle, bungee run and a climbing wall. There will also be 50 stall holders offering advice and support for local children. / It will address the difficulty in getting people to engage with issues around childhood. The event will help many local people and children engage with health issues surrounding a ‘Good childhood’. It will highlight the local support available.
St Martin’s CEVA Primary School, Liskeard / £1,000 / Monthly Polish –English café to bring together parents and provide an opportunity for their children to meet, share culture, share food and have discussions about parenting in the community. / Money will be spent initially on purchasing ingredients. It will also be spent on printing menus (Polish/English), buying tablecloths and decorations. It will also pay for one day training for those volunteering in the café. / It will help parents to engage with and support each other in a variety of ways, such as encouraging each other to model good values and relationships in front of all children. It will help break down the barriers between different communities.
Cherry Hinton Festival Society, Cambridge / £410 / Cherry Hinton has no café or community centre for people to get together. The grant is for Pop-up coffee shop at the festival to promote community spirit and provide a safe place where parents and young children can relax. / The money will be spent on hiring tables and chairs and purchasing food and refreshments. / As one of the only community spaces, it will provide a place for families and children to come together away from school. It will be an inclusive shared space for all local residents.
Churches Together in Wadebridge, Cornwall / £1,000 / Half term holiday club - there is limited facilities for children in the town which puts pressure on parents. / The club will run four days a week and money will be used for; posters and banners to advertise the club; hire premises; craft materials; refreshments; pay for a scripture teacher; fish and chip supper for the families. / The holiday club will help children and families by: -providing an attractive and affordable activity for children at a time when they have nothing else to do. It offers children the chance to mix with children from other schools and towns.

Linton Action for Youth, Linton, Cambridge / £1,000 / Salary of a youth worker to run sessions with young people, helping them to develop ideas around having better relationships with adults. / Money will pay for a youth workers salary for 24 weeks. Three hours a week. / A better understanding and a more positive attitude between adults, the community and young people would be beneficial for all concerned, leading to an improvement in the quality of life.
Saltford Parish Council, Bristol / £1,000 / Skill Swap Shop - a practical,
enjoyable, means of strengthening (& broadening) inter-generational relationships. / Money will be spent on hiring a venue, promotional materials and buying materials for the workshops which include knitting, photography, cooking, dance and woodwork. / The project will provide the opportunity for tangible activities that will be enjoyed by children and young people and make significant progress in improving inter-generational engagement.
Newburgh School, Lancashire / £1,000 / Young People's consultation and inclusion into community. / Money will be used to pay a young person to set up and maintain a Facebook page for one year. Flip cameras and a celebration event at the end of the project. / Young People will be asked their views about decisions to be taken that have some bearing on their lives, especially by the Parish Council and the local authority. It will also give them an opportunity to raise matters and have their voices heard.
Barnaby’s Toddler Group, New Whittington, Chesterfield / £1,000 / A soft play area for toddlers at the local toddler group. / Soft play equipment such as a ball pool, slide, soft shapes, tunnels etc. / By having a soft play area for toddlers in the community. Soft play areas are only on offer at indoor play centres that not everyone can afford as they are expensive and require people to travel.
St Thomas School, Lydiate, Liverpool / £1,000 / Family Focused week in February 2012. Plans include inviting Grandparents to school for a special day and a 'dad's and lad's’ literacy project and family games afternoons. / Boys literacy books, family board games for 7 classes. Hospitality for a tea dance. / Families are key to the stability of children and this project will enable families to spend more quality time together. St Thomas School want to make families a priority in the community.
Ludgvan School, Penzance, Cornwall / £1,000 / Training Volunteers to support and sustain the youth clubs. / Recruitment advertising, training and CRB checks for volunteers. Support and supervision and travel expenses. / It will make the existing youth clubs that are at risk of closure sustainable. It will provide opportunities for young people to develop new skills and provide training opportunities and learning to parents and older people. Overall, it will strengthen the community to support the children and young people living within it.
All Saints Church, Marazion, Cornwall / £500 / Monthly messy church/ community days for one year / Rent of the community hall, craft materials, publicity, food. / Messy Church will provide a time for families to come together as a community and rekindle some quality time together where children and adults can come together and play.
Meridian Centre, Birmingham / £675.5 / Family Work. Joint community project targeting 15-18 families. 5 weekly workshops / Room hire, professional skills, equipment, advertising / To bring families from diverse backgrounds together to share experiences and break down barriers of age and culture. To reconnect families emotionally and to promote healthy happy families where children thrive.
Fordham Primary School, Ely, Cambridgeshire / £1,000 / Contribution towards a £7000 project to provide playground equipment. / Playground equipment / The playground will be utilized by all children in the community. The equipment will promote physical development and social skills.
Parish of Whitton, Ipswich / £750 / Annual monthly film club / Technical equipment, data projector, DVD player etc. / This activity provides a safe environment in the community where children can speak up of their needs and service providers can attend to support and signpost them for further help.
