Innes House Assembly – Update: Innes House Assembly will be on Friday 4 September (not Tuesday 8 September as previously advised)

House Assemblies: House Assemblies will be held as follows: Pupils and staff should go straight to the Assembly Hall on their allocated day where classes will be registered. All pupils should be seated together in their registration class.

Speakers' Corner: Thank you to those pupilswho have signed up to have a go atour newSpeakers' Corner, to be in the library every Friday, beginning next week, the 11th. We now have an exciting and almost fullprogramme, which is fantastic. Ifyou would like to give this a go, pleasesee the sign-up sheet in the library.

Two of our S6swill be kicking things off for the pupils: Graeme Bethune will tell us Why YouShould Play Golf and Carrie MacVicar's talk will be My Places To See Before You Die. There has been a great response from S1 and we can look forward to talks on Gliding, on Lego and on Liverpool FC, as well as Mythical Creatures and Superhero Universe.

For the staff, look out for Mr Baker's talk on Rock Music, Mr MacWhirter on What I Discovered in My Loft and Mr Clark will ask Do You Have What It Takes to Be A Doctor Who Companion?

We are in for exciting times at Speakers' Corner. Please support the speakers and come along to the library. It all startsnext Friday at 1.20pm. There are a few date changes for the pupilspeakers - so please check the programme to see if your talk has been moved. Apologies for this and it is because of other events in thelibrary on Fridays, or whole-school events. (ST)

Badminton Singles League: Any pupils wanting to enter the badminton singles league in Banchory, entries available at the PE dept. (RS)

Maths Clubs: If you enjoy maths, puzzles and problem solving then come along and join Elgin Academy’s ‘Maths Team’. This group will meet weekly from 3:30pm – 4:30pm in G33, starting this Thursday (3rd). All are welcome and it would be lovely to see some of our new S1 pupils coming along. (NM)

The Origami Club: Club will meet at Friday lunchtimes this session in G35 at 1.05pm (starting this Friday). If you fancy being creative and making some pretty cool things using the ancient art of paper-folding then come along and join in. New members very welcome. (NM)

Highland Junior Golf Competition: Anyone wishing to enter the Highland junior golf competition, entries available in the PE dpt. (RS)

Hockey Club: The club will kick off NEXT THURSDAY (10th Sept) 3.40-4.40pm on the astro. Any new members and any playing ability welcome(SS)

S1 & S2 Novelties Book Group: Begins today at 1.15pm in the library. (ST)

S1 Interhouse Football: Will take place next week starting Monday 7th lunch time @1.10pm on the astro. It will be 7 a side with a knockout format. Entries available at the PE department or with your house leader. (RS)

S1-S2 Craft Club: Meeting on Friday in G27 at 1:10pm to make a plan for the crafts for this term. All new members welcome. (NB)

S3 Student Council: There will be a meeting of the S3 Student Council in the meeting room (G54)

Period 5 on Wednesday 2 September. All S3 class representatives should attend this meeting. (SM)

Civil Engineering Apprentice: Fairhurst in Elgin have a position for a Civil Engineering Apprentice. Interested students should hold a minimum of a Higher in Maths, English or a science related subject. CVs should be sent to (CF)

S6 Yearbook: Yearbook Committee must meet in B16 on Monday at 1.10pm. (KR)

S6 Paired Readers: Could pupils please check with Mrs Toonen in the Library that the periods they have volunteered for are still correct. Paired Reading will start as soon as possible. More details will be announced in the bulletin soon. (MM)

DofE: Please will anyone who has been on expedition please make sure that they complete their admin on eDofE. Make sure that you SUBMIT SECTION. Only once this has been done will you have completed your award. Any problems come and ask for help. If when you log in to eDofE it is not showing as completed you have not pressed the SUBMIT SECTION button. (AG)

S4 & S5: Police Scotland are looking for 30 young people to take part in the Youth Advantage Outreach (YAO) Course which will run at Cameron Barracks, Inverness between 19 and 23 October 2015. This initiative is run in partnership between Police Scotland and Army Insight Course Teams. YAO is a 5-day residential course, facilitated by the Army and based at Cameron Army Barracks, Inverness, for males and females aged between 15 and 17 years. The course is designed for young people interested in Army Life and outdoor pursuit. Activities include drill, sporting activities, navigating an assault course, map reading and an overnight field expedition. There is a set criteria for acceptance to the course but if you are interested in attending the course, please see your Guidance Teacher or Mrs Grant in B21. (KJG)

S6 Aberdeen University Library Visit: The sign-up sheet for this trip, to Aberdeen University Library on 1 October,is on thelibrary desk. This will be a great opportunity to experience a university library and to use its resources for dissertation research. Please see Mrs Toonen for more information and if you are interested in the trip, please sign up before this Friday. (ST)
