Honors Achievement Award Informational Guidelines/Agreement
The Honors Achievement Award is a partial tuition waiver scholarship that is funded at the completion of each semester. Continuing and transfer students who have accumulated a minimum of 12 credits in MCCCD courses numbered 100 or above (Pass/Fail credits excluded), and who have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 may apply for the Honors Achievement Award Scholarship. New scholarship candidates are required to submit an application to the Honors Program Assistant or Coordinator by the posted due date. Students who are accepted will receive partial tuition fee waivers (refunds) based on the number of credits for which they are enrolled (see following breakdown).

Please note:Only those with a lawful presence in the US may qualify for MCCCD scholarships or federal financial aid. Any information you provide about your legal status when you apply for financial aid or scholarships may be subject to mandatory reporting to federal immigration authorities under Arizona law.

I have read the Presidents' Scholarship Agreement (page 2) and made a copy for my personal files. I understand that failure to comply with these requirements will result in the loss of my scholarship, which cannot be reinstated.
Acceptance (Students applying for the CGCC Honors Achievement Award must meet all of the following eligibility requirements to receive the scholarship):
*Be a citizen or legal resident of the United States.
*Completed a minimum of 12 credits in MCCCD courses numbered 100 or above (Pass/Fail credits excluded).
*Have a cumulative GPA of 3.25.
Requirements, Retention, and Renewal:
Students who are accepted into the Honors Achievement program must meet the following requirements:
*Enroll in and complete the number of credits (Pass/Fail excluded) for which a partial fee waiver has been awarded for (a
minimum of 3 or more Honors credit hours each semester).
*Enroll in and complete an Honors course and project/contract as required by the program each semester.
* Maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher each semester. All MCCCD coursework completed (including Dual Enrollment) is included in the cumulative GPA.
*Must receive a “C” or higher in your Honors class each semester.
Termination:
Honors Achievement Scholars whose cumulative GPA falls below 3.25 will not continue to receive the award, but may reapply for the scholarship once their GPA is again 3.25 or above. Any grade of Incomplete will cause a student to be put on probation until the Incomplete grade is completed and recorded.
Honors Program Graduation:
*Complete a minimum of 15 Honors credits (Pass/Fail excluded) and any other district required experiential requirements.
*Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
*Petition for Graduation in the Advisement Department (see appropriate class schedule for deadlines).
Important Notes:
Periodically during the semester, the student’s enrollment is reviewed. If the student fails to complete an Honors Project, they will be required to repay the scholarship. After meeting with the Honors Advisor, it is the student's responsibility to be in compliance with the honors guidelines. Honors Program students should not withdraw from courses without first consulting with the Honors Advisor or Honors Coordinators.
