7/8 Football Rules
OFFENSE (7 linemen & 1-WR) See Schematic next page
- Offense -11 players (1-center, 2-guards, 2-tackles, 2-TE's, 1 WR,1-QB, 1-FB & 1-TB)
- All linemen must be in a 3-pt stance and Tight ends can not be splitout.
-No shotgun formation; no punts or kickoffs.
-All teams will follow a Down, set, hut cadence with no deception intended to force a penalty.
-No QB sneaks.
DEFENSE (6-2-3 defense required) See Schematic
- Defense - 11 Players (4-DT's, 2 DE's, 2- LB's, 2-CB's & 1-Safety)
- DT's are head up on OG's & OT's; no lining up in the gaps andmust be in either a 3-pt or 4-pt stance.
- DE’s mayline up head up or on the outside shoulder of the Tight end, but not on the inside shoulder.
- DE’s may line up in a 2 point stance.
- LB's have to line up between DT's & DE's and be 5 yards off the line of scrimmage (LOS).
- No Blitzing.
- CB’s and S must line up 7 yards off the LOS and can not overload one side of the field.--- see schematic
GAME RULES
- 70 yd field.
- 2 coaches on field per team at all times to help call plays andsetup offensive & defensive players.
- Open substitution is allowed. All children should play the equivalent of 2 quarters.
- Coin flip to determine who gets ball first. Coin flip loser getsball to start 2nd half.
- 4 - 8 minute quarters with time only stopping for injuries andtimeouts. 3 minute break between quarters and
5 minutes break at halftime.
- 30 second play clock starts when ball is put down on fieldfollowing prior play.
- Offense starts off with ball at their own 20 yd line to startgame or after an opposing team scores and is allowed to proceed as long asthey keep getting 1st downs or score. 4 downs - 10 yards for a first down. If on 4th down the offense chooses not to go for it and elects to "punt", the ball is moved downfield 20 yards (like a punt) and possession is turned overto the other team. At no time may a “punt” result in the ball being placed inside the 10 yard line. For example, team A has the ball on the 25 yard line and elects to punt, the ball will be placed at the 10 yard line not the 5 yard line.
- 2 timeouts per team per half.
- PAT's - Ball is placed on 3 yd line and 1-play is run. 1-PT PATis scored by running, 2-PT PAT is scored if by passing provided the pass is completed in the endzone.
- Penalties, i.e., offsides, illegal motion, holding, clipping,face mask, etc. are as per regular football rules with the maximum penaltyyardage being 5 yards.
