AFTER SCHOOL CARE

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible To: Head Teacher

Hours of Work: 13.75 hours per week, 3.15p.m. – 6.00p.m. daily (this may be extended to 6:15pm)

An After School Care Supervisor works to provide good quality play and educational provision for all children at West Lodge once the formal school day has ended. They uphold the ethos and values of West Lodge, support colleagues, both professionally and personally, and work constructively as part of a team.

A high standard of professional conduct is expected at all times and the After School Care Supervisor must demonstrate judgement and integrity in confidential dealings with pupils, parents, and staff.

The After School Supervisor works a variety of contracted hours throughout the week, term time only, but it is hoped that some flexibility will be exercised in respect of working hours in the absence of colleagues. The After School Supervisor should also demonstrate a constructive and flexible approach to all aspects of their duties.

The After School Supervisor is an important staff member of West Lodge and should help to foster a supportive and encouraging atmosphere in school which enables the pupils to learn and play contentedly.

DUTIES

After School Care

• Work as part of a dedicated team of After School Care Supervisors

• Work with children of all ages from 3 – 11 providing play activities

• To contribute fully to the After School Care experience

• Supervise children’s cloakroom and toilet visits (where appropriate)

• Supervise outdoor play activities

• Assist with snack

• Engage in sporting activities as required

You will need to be patient, firm but fair and have a calm approach. After School Care Supervisors need good communication skills at all levels in order to build relationships with children, parents and other members of school staff.

Experience of working with children is essential and candidates will need at least a relevant Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent), gained in an EYFS setting.

Additional hours working in our Holiday Club may also be available.

Short-listed candidates will be invited for interview and will be asked to participate in an activity session as part of the interview process.

The closing date for applications is 12:00 noon on Monday 13th March and interviews will take place shortly thereafter.
