We provide expert advice and information as well as specialist services to deafblind people, their families, carers and professionals who work with them.
If you can imagine living with little or no sight and hearing is immensely challenging. For example, communicating with other people, moving around safely and living independently may be very difficult. Despite this, given the right support each individual can develop have choice and control of their own lives.
We support people who have sensory impairments with additional disabilities in the Community, Residential and in a College Setting.

Vacancy Title / Apprentice Intervenor

An Intervenor provides 1 to 1 support to a child or adult who has been born with sight and hearing impairments.
The Intervenor promotes the persons personal and social development encourages their independence and supports their communication.
Their role is to enable the individual to experience and join in the world around them as much as possible.
This support may be provided in the persons own home, their local community, in an educational or work setting or combination of these.
Intervenors receive training in how to support individuals who have dual-sensory impairments, often combined with other disabilities.
You will have the opportunity to work in a range of different settings for example, Residential, College environment to gain experience in these settings.
Vacancy Full Description (Max 2000 characters).
This needs to be a list of duties that the apprentice will be expected to carry out. / An Intervenors typical duties will be:
· To act as eyes and ears of the deafblind person.
· To provide support to ensure the persons preferred communication is used at all times.
· Understand and recognize that a deafblind person may communicate with us through his or her behaviours. This maybe sometimes difficult or challenging.
· To maintain accurate up to date records regarding the deafblind person development and well being.
· To enable the person to have access to and contact with others.
· A willingness to communicate on behalf of and accompany deafblind people on leisure activities.
· To be able to work on a flexible basis, which include evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
· Be prepared to be involved in supervisions, team meetings.
· To comply with Sense policy and procedures.
· To comply with Domiciliary Care standards and procedures.
· To carry out personal care.
Weekly Wage (pay per week-this is essential criteria for the apprenticeships website) / £244.12
Working Hours per Week (this cannot be more than 40 hours per week and must include days e.g. Mon-Fri, 9-5pm.) / 37.5 hours per week including weekends and evenings and bank holidays.

Ideal Applicant / Have a commitment to support people with disabilities. Reliable, Enthusiastic, must be able to drive, be happy to lone work, working towards an NVQ level 2/3 in Health & Social care.
Future Prospects / Gain hands on experience and additional training in db awareness, Safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act, Equality & Diversity etc.

Qualifications Required / NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social care.
Skills Required / Willingness to provide practical support (including personal care).
