SAFETY RULES & PRECAUTIONS
· Always keep hands, feet and loose clothing away from the machine when it is in operation
· Always wear ear, eye and foot protection when using the compactor
· Always turn engine off when not in use and close fuel valve
· Always keep area around your work area free from rubbish etc. in order to reduce the chances of an accident
· Do not operate this internal combustion engine powered machine in a confined space as it produces noxious gases
· Do not attempt to clean the compactor when the machine is running
· Do not leave running machine unattended
· Do not smoke while operating the compactor
· Do not smoke while refuelling the engine
· NOTE: Lifting of the machine is a two man operation. The machine should be lifted by the handles provided
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
STARTING
· Open fuel tap
· Close choke
· Close throttle
· Pull start rope. When machine starts, open choke gradually till fully open and allow machine 5 minutes to warm up at idle
OPERATION
· The throttle lever operates the compactor. Move the throttle lever from the “OFF” position, to the “FULL POWER” position
· When the engine speed reaches operation speed, the clutch engages. Do not operate the throttle switch slowly, as this will cause the clutch to slip and the machine will not drive correctly
· Work progressively over the area to be compacted, this will avoid the compactor ‘digging in’ at a particular point. Avoid over compaction.
· If compacting sand, wet the sand before compacting the area
· When using for bitumen compaction, use water hand sprinkled to stop bitumen “pick up”
STOPPING
· Allow the engine to idle for 3 minutes after compaction is completed
· Close fuel tap
· Push stop button
