As we approach the end of the current academic year, it is time for parents to start thinking about the upcoming Parent Teacher Association (PTA) elections. The PTA is currently seeking nominations and volunteers for the Executive Board positons for the year 2016-2017 school year. The PTA Executive Board is responsible for conducting monthly PTA meetings to discuss educational issues, address parent concerns, plan parent involvement activities and work with the School Administration to decide on programs that will benefit our students. All WHSAD parents are invited to participate in the election process by nominating themselves or others, and voting at the General Meeting on Thursday, May 19th at 7:00 P.M.

Listed below are the positions and job descriptions to be decided by this election:

President: Preside at all meetings and serve as a liaison with the School Administration. Address parents and PTA questions and concerns. Set meeting agendas and approve minutes.

Vice Presidents: Support President and perform President’s duties in his/her absence.

Secretary: Assist President to set agenda and record accurate minutes of all meetings and present at the PTA meetings. Maintain permanent files of PTA minutes and bylaws, as well as other pertinent documentation.

Treasurer: Have custody of and maintain full account of the PTA funds. Keep full and accurate account of receipts and expenditures.

Participating in the WHSAD PTA is the best way for parents to learn what goes into the workings of a school, the problems face by the administrators and how to work together to effect changes to benefit our school community. Every parent is a member of the PTA and has a stake in the education of our students. Please take this opportunity to advocate for your child and school community and help us build a better school.
