The following information is furnished to help Council staff and those people considering joining the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council to understand and appreciate the general work content of their post and the role they are to play in the organisation. Key Purpose of Post:
  • To be the lead officer and Head Coach to the Diving Scheme which will include co-ordinating Talent Identification in Schools across the District to develop appropriate diver pathways as outlined by the ASA / British Diving LATD Strategy
  • To plan, develop, facilitate and implement a sustainable diving programme and opportunities across defined areas, and where appropriate the district, which enable people to be involved in Diving which reflect the vision, aims and purpose of the Council’s defined strategic framework.
  • To work in partnership with local communities, organisations, groups, individuals, clubs, schools and other agencies, to ensure that Diving playsits part in tackling social exclusion, regeneration, health inequalities, educational attainment, community safety, community cohesion and where appropriate, reflect national governing bodies of sport frameworks for participation.

Main Responsibilities of Post:
  1. Manage and Administer the Sport and Leisure Services Diving Coaching and Training Scheme, managing the squads and their training needs, recommending changes to the Bradford Aquatics Manager and carrying out the changes necessary.
  1. Coach and Train Divers in the Sport and Leisure Services Diving Coaching and Training Scheme alongside the Bradford Aquatics Diving Lessons and attend relevant championships and competitions. Therefore must be able to work unsociable hours including evenings, weekends and bank holidays when required.
  1. To co ordinate Talent Identification in Schools across the District to develop appropriate diver pathways as outlined by the ASA / British Diving LATD Strategy
  1. Develop and organise programmes and sessions which generate and increase income for Bradford Aquatics Diving Coaching and Training Scheme e.g. Skills Clinics, Diving Camp holiday courses, ‘Out Of School Hours’ programmes, Traded Services to Schools maximising income and monitor expenditure of these sessions in line with Council regulations, policies and procedures.
  1. To be aware of funding opportunities and apply for funding from a variety of sources for the Sport and Leisure Services Diving Coaching and Training Scheme.
  1. To encourage and increase the awareness of communities, organisations and individuals in the district of the opportunities to access and engage in Diving based activities.
  1. To work in partnership with other partners both internal and external in promoting, organising and increasing the number of Diving Activities for target groups e.g. Ethnic Communities, Youth Groups, Masters
  1. Advise and support Facility Managers to develop diving initiatives that will increase participation and Income within Council sports facilities.
  1. To develop and work in partnership with a range of key partners to include voluntary, public, statutory and private sector – e.g. Health Sector, Social Services, Police, Education and Regeneration. This partnership work to ensure that diving and physical activity programmes are playing their part in tackling social exclusion, regeneration, health inequalities, educational attainment and community safety.
  2. To promote, support and assist in developing national programmes across the District.
  1. To be responsible for the supervision and direction of employees, both contracted and casual, employed as coaches within the Sport and Leisure Services Diving Coaching and Training Scheme and the Bradford Aquatics Diving Lessons Programmes.
  1. To recruit diving qualified staff and be responsible for the supervision and direction of work experience placements / trainees / volunteers.
  1. To produce and implement action plans, monitoring and evaluation reports for senior management and the Bradford Aquatics Manager as required.
  1. To be responsible for ensuring that the Health and safety policies, practices and
guidelines of the Council and, where appropriate, relevant sports bodies, are implemented and adhered to.
  1. To act as Lead Officer on defined Diving activities and other projects as directed by management along with other reasonable duties associated with Bradford Aquatics

An ability to identify and secure external funding to initiate, enhance new andsustain Diving activities in defined areas and across the district.
An ability to develop a Diving Competition Scheme and Diving Lesson programme.
Understanding of the benefits of sport and physical activity.

A minimum of three years recent experience in aquatics activities development
Relevant professional qualifications requirement:Will be used for shortlisting
NVQ level 3 or significant relevant experience in Aquatic activities development.

Working Conditions:
Must be able to work evenings weekends and bank holidays as required by the needs of the service. Must be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustment, where appropriate, in accordance with theEquality Act 2010 in relation to Disability Provisions.
Special Conditions:
Management require that a current DBS Check is carried out as part of the recruitment.
Must hold a full valid uk driving licence. Participation in erecting and dismantling of
