Rules and Regulations for Cosmetology Program

I acknowledge I have read, understand and will comply with the following rules, regulations and procedures regarding the operation of the cosmetology and manicuring programs.

1.  Uniform will be purchased by the student. White slacks with black smocks and professional white shoes must be worn. Men are required to wear a barber jacket with black shoes, socks and dark slacks.

2.  Students will be required to purchase both the textbooks and a kit from the school during the first week of class. Arrangements to remove contents for home use must be approved by the instructor.

The sanitation, organization and maintenance of the kit are the responsibility of the owner. Borrowing and lending of the kit contents is prohibited. Entering into the kit of another student is also prohibited. Contents have been selected on basis of occupation need. Therefore, to assure continuity of instruction, students are required to replace items lost or damaged within one week.

3.  During the course of the program, there will be many times when students are expected to perform tasks (hands-on-activities) upon one another. All students will be required to participate in these activities as both an operator and a model.

4.  Students will be required to be dressed in full uniform upon entering the class area at the beginning of the evening. This means change of clothes will have to take place prior to arrival on the school premises. Students will leave at the end of the evening while still wearing the work attire of the evening. Classes begin promptly at 6 PM. Students arriving late will lose one hour of class time.

5.  It is the responsibility of the student owner to secure his/her own kit and personal belongings in a designated place. Valuable items are not to be brought to class (this includes jewelry). The school and staff are not responsible for missing or lost property of students or accidents on the premises.

6.  Good attendance is emphasized. Besides meeting the legal requirements of program completion, good performance is directly related to good attendance. Remember, you can not learn if you are not in school. You are expected to be present for every class.

7. I understand that should I withdraw from class prior to ten (10) calendar days before the first class session, I will receive a full refund for all registration fees paid. Should I withdraw within the next ten-day period, I will receive a 50% refund. After classes have begun, there will be no refund of any registration/tuition money paid. Kits and books may not be returned once they are purchased. Past due tuition payments will result in you being marked absent from class. If the student falls below the minimum 1000 hours, there will be an additional fee per hour for hours needed to meet the minimum hours.

7.  It is the responsibility of any student who becomes pregnant to immediately notify the instructor. Certain chemicals in the class could be potentially hazardous.

8.  I hereby authorize the New Jersey Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling to release State

Board licensing examination results to New Jersey State Department of Education, Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling officials, and the Mercer County Technical Schools.

9.  Cell phone use is prohibited in class & lab, can result in hours loss.
