BOARD OF EDUCATION
September 9, 2014
The Braxton County Board of Education met in a regular
meeting at the Braxton County Board of Education office on
Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The following members
were present:
Kathy Parker, President
Dave Hoover, Vice President
Mike Chapman
Jimmy Huffman
Van Carr
The meeting was called to order by President Kathy Parker
at 7:00 p.m.
Kathy Parker offered a non-denominational prayer.
Mike Chapman moved and Dave Hoover seconded to
approve the consent agenda items (minutes of meeting on
August 26, 2014, payment of bills, budget transfers and supplements, transportation requests and reports, treasurer’s report.)
Vote: Unanimous
Van Carr moved and Jimmy Huffman seconded to
approve the following employment/assignment – Professional:
1. Jaime Teter – 3rd/4th Grade Split Teacher Flatwoods Elementary – effective September 10, 2014
2. Sue Ann White – Pre-School Special Needs/Head Start Home Base Teacher(Anticipated) Sutton Elementary – effective date to be announced
3. Jennifer Arambula – Kindergarten Teacher Flatwoods Elementary – effective September 10, 2014
4. Sarah Critchfield – Pre-School Special Needs/Head Start Home Base Teacher Burnsville Elementary – effective date to be announced
5. Ilene Lewis, Ellen Lewis, Rhonda Hunt – Elementary/Middle Interventionists – effective September 10, 2014
6. Lisa Ratliff – LD/BD/MI/Autism Teacher BCMS – effective September 15, 2014
7. Cindy Sprouse – General K-8 Mentor Teacher – effective retroactive September 2, 2014
8. Mary Talbott – General K-8 Mentor Teacher – effective retroactive September 2, 2014
9. Ken Skidmore – Agriculture Education Mentor Teacher – effective retroactive September 2, 2014
Vote: Unanimous.
Jimmy Huffman moved and Dave Hoover seconded to
approve the following Employment/Reassignment – Service:
1. April Garrett – Pre-K Instructional Aide/Transportation Aide Burnsville Elementary - effective retroactive September 2, 2014
2. Billy Rose – Bus Operator (formerly Darla Shaver’s Run) –
Effective September 10, 2014
Vote: Unanimous
Mike Chapman moved and Van Carr seconded to approve the
following Employment/Reassignment - Extra Curricular:
Jami Hefner – Unpaid Assistant Volleyball Coach BCMS
Vote: Unanimous
Dave Hoover moved and Jimmy Huffman seconded to approve
Fundraisers for Burnsville Elementary, Flatwoods Elementary and
Braxton County High School.
Vote: Unanimous
Mike Chapman moved and Van Carr seconded to approve the 21st
Century Positions.
Vote: Unanimous
Jimmy Huffman moved and Dave Hoover seconded to approve the
Title I Parent Involvement Policy 5200.
Vote: Unanimous
The Superintendent and Board Members reviewed the
following reports/information: New Employee Orientation,
Bonfire, Leadership Meeting and Policy Handbook.
Van Carr moved and Dave Hoover seconded to adjourn
the meeting. Vote: Unanimous.
The meeting adjourned at 7:16 p.m.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Board of Education office.
