Explanatory notes

1All tasks are to be carried out in accordance with enterprise procedures, the enterprise being the organisation carrying out the work. Enterprise procedures referred to in this unit standard are the applicable procedures found in the following:enterprise exposition;manufacturer publications;Government and local body legislation;airworthiness authority requirements.

aircraft interior panels may include but are not limited to – partitions, window surrounds, ceiling panels, storage bins.

Outcome 1

Prepare to apply trim to aircraft interior panels.

Evidence requirements

1.1Task is determined by reviewing maintenance documentation and enterprise procedures.

1.2Work area is prepared, and resources obtained and checked for serviceability or status in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Rangepublications,tools, materials, equipment, safety equipment.

1.3Pattern is fabricated to meet task requirements in accordance with enterprise procedures.

1.4Trim is cut to meet task requirements in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Outcome 2

Apply trim to surface.

Evidence requirements

2.1Surfaces are prepared in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Rangemay include but are not limited to – clean, apply adhesive.

2.2Trim is applied to meet specifications in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Rangemay include but is not limited to – adhesive cured, pressure applied, temperature controlled, excess trim removed.

2.3Any defects are rectified in accordance with enterprise procedures.

2.4Inspections are obtained in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Rangeindependent, duplicate, progressive.

Outcome 3

Complete finishing activities related to the application task.

Evidence requirements

3.1Completed item is prepared for storage, transit, or use in accordance with enterprise procedures.

3.2Completion activities specific to the task and work area are carried out in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Rangeactivities may include but are not limited to – tool control, cleanliness, tidiness, return of publications, preparation for next activity.

3.3Resources are checked and returned to service or storage in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Rangetools, equipment, safety equipment, specifications, drawings.

3.4Leftover items, parts, and materials are disposed of in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Rangemay include but is not limited to – serviceable, unserviceable, surplus, waste, scrap, hazardous.

3.5Documentation is completed in accordance with enterprise procedures.
