Support Staff Job Description

Lutherwood Camp and Retreat Center

Required Qualifications

  1. Minimum age – 17 years old and completed high school
  2. Dedicated Christian who is willing to share their faith in Christ with others
  3. Desire and ability to work with children in an outdoor ministry setting
  4. Possess certifications in CPR/ First Aid/ WA Food Handlers certificate by staff training

Desired Qualifications

  1. Willingness to experience outdoor living and to teach/ learn new skills
  2. Ability to accept supervision and guidance
  3. Possess imagination, a sense of humor, patience, conviction, sincerity, enthusiasm, initiative, self-control, adaptability, willingness to learn, integrity, ingenuity, a sense of spiritual direction, and the presence of God in his/her life

To Whom Responsible

  1. The Program Director in terms of application and employment
  2. The Program Director in terms of training and work assignments, as well as personnel policies and practices
  3. The Team Leaders in all areas relative to program activities, inter-staff responsibilities, and regular or special work duties
  4. The Lead Support Staff, Cook, and Facilities Director depending on what job is being done

General Responsibilities

  1. Be a positive Christian influence at all times and provide personal guidance when needed
  2. Be responsible for the stewardship of all camp facilities and equipment
  3. Represent the camp and its purpose in a positive manner when you are in public
  4. Possess an attitude and actions which continually reflect that Christ lives within you and that you view your position as an opportunity to be in His service

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Kitchen
  1. Assist in preparing or serving meals
  2. Assist daily in cleaning the kitchen including counters, dishes, putting away left-overs
  3. Assist daily in cleaning dining facilities including tables, counters and floors
  1. Site Assistance
  1. Work with Facilities Manager for various work projects
  2. Use mower safely
  1. Other Specific Responsibilities
  1. Assist in registration of the campers and weekly clean-up assignments
  2. Take time each day to fill your spiritual needs
  3. Maintain good public relations with the parents of campers
  4. As a team member, assist other staff in any task that will enhance the outdoor ministry of Lutherwood Camp and Retreat Center

Should we deem that your skills fit the needs of our day camps we might ask you to help out with that as well which can include but not limited to:

  1. Day Camps
  1. Be part of a Day Camp Team
  2. Lead or assist in crafts, songs, games, and/or Bible encounters
  3. Be responsible for the safety of campers
