Support Staff Job Description
Lutherwood Camp and Retreat Center
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age – 17 years old and completed high school
- Dedicated Christian who is willing to share their faith in Christ with others
- Desire and ability to work with children in an outdoor ministry setting
- Possess certifications in CPR/ First Aid/ WA Food Handlers certificate by staff training
Desired Qualifications
- Willingness to experience outdoor living and to teach/ learn new skills
- Ability to accept supervision and guidance
- Possess imagination, a sense of humor, patience, conviction, sincerity, enthusiasm, initiative, self-control, adaptability, willingness to learn, integrity, ingenuity, a sense of spiritual direction, and the presence of God in his/her life
To Whom Responsible
- The Program Director in terms of application and employment
- The Program Director in terms of training and work assignments, as well as personnel policies and practices
- The Team Leaders in all areas relative to program activities, inter-staff responsibilities, and regular or special work duties
- The Lead Support Staff, Cook, and Facilities Director depending on what job is being done
General Responsibilities
- Be a positive Christian influence at all times and provide personal guidance when needed
- Be responsible for the stewardship of all camp facilities and equipment
- Represent the camp and its purpose in a positive manner when you are in public
- Possess an attitude and actions which continually reflect that Christ lives within you and that you view your position as an opportunity to be in His service
Specific Responsibilities
- Kitchen
- Assist in preparing or serving meals
- Assist daily in cleaning the kitchen including counters, dishes, putting away left-overs
- Assist daily in cleaning dining facilities including tables, counters and floors
- Site Assistance
- Work with Facilities Manager for various work projects
- Use mower safely
- Other Specific Responsibilities
- Assist in registration of the campers and weekly clean-up assignments
- Take time each day to fill your spiritual needs
- Maintain good public relations with the parents of campers
- As a team member, assist other staff in any task that will enhance the outdoor ministry of Lutherwood Camp and Retreat Center

- Day Camps
- Be part of a Day Camp Team
- Lead or assist in crafts, songs, games, and/or Bible encounters
- Be responsible for the safety of campers
