- Job Purpose
- Responsibilities and End Results
- Organise and ensure efficient provision of nursing care to patients. To work independently to agreed protocols to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual and/or programmes of nursing care i.e. health promotion
- Manage own caseload, which includes case management and health screening programmes appropriate to patients in accordance with Practice Policy and agreed Protocols. To be responsible for the nursing management of patients with chronic disease and provide regular review.
- Provide an advisory service to patient on general care and some minor illnesses.
- Provide and manage an efficient, comprehensive immunisation service including travel immunisation and advice
- Refer patients to primary care and community services as well as performing investigatory procedures and directly referring to hospital e.g. laboratories
- Manage and review appropriate infection control measures.
- Facilitate and contribute to clinical audit and research
- To participate in administration and professional responsibility of the practice team and the provision of GP services.
- Ensure professional clinical practice is maintained and updated in accordance with PREPP and practice philosophy recommendations

(b)Participate in the education and training of students i.e. medical students,
Student nurses, trainee community nurses and healthcare assistants.
- Communication
Partakes in practice meetings. Communicates on a daily basis with receptionists regarding results/patients advice. Attends monthly meetings with other Practice Nurses.
(b)With other Medical Centres/NHS Trusts
Represents the practice at Practice Nurse Meetings. Liase with attached community staff – district nurse/health visitors as well as other attached professional’s i.e. midwife CPN and paramedical staff.
(c)External to Laurencekirk Medical Group/The Health Service
To liase with other disciplines both within the practice and also other agencies /staff concerned with patient care. Provide telephone advice on general health problems.

Diploma in Asthma, COPD, Diabetes, Family Planning & CHD Heart Failure
Marie Curie breast and cervical screening course essential or equivalent

NEBULISER ALERE SPIROMETRY
Required Skills and Qualities – professional/technical skills, management skills in delegation, negotiation, leadership and time management. Communications skills.
