To whom was referred a Concurrent Resolution (S.1024) to express the support of the South Carolina General Assembly and the State of South Carolina for organ, eye, and tissue donation and to designate Wednesday, April 6, 2016, etc., respectfully

ACONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO EXPRESS THE SUPPORT OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINAFOR ORGAN, EYE, AND TISSUE DONATION AND TO DESIGNATE WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6, 2016, AS “ORGAN DONOR REGISTRATION DAY” IN SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, giving life through organ, eye, and tissue donation to someone facing death or living with a disability or blindness is the ultimate act of generosity and kindness that we as South Carolina citizens can perform; and
Whereas, more than 123,000 people are waiting for an organ transplant; and
Whereas, more than twenty-two people die every day while in need of an organ transplant; and
Whereas, one organ donor can save up to eight lives; and
Whereas, people of all ages, races, and ethnicities can save and enhance lives by donating their organs, eyes, and tissues. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina express support for organ, eye, and tissue donation and designate Wednesday, April 6, 2016,as “Organ Donor Registration Day” in South Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Donate Life South Carolina.
