JOB TITLE: Education Training Employment Link Worker
RESONSIBLE TO: Service Manager
DIRECT REPORTS: None
SAMS provides a peer mentoring service to users of drug and alcohol services across the county of Essex. The Employment, Training and Education specific aspect of the service will support service users to achieve their longer term aspirational goals.
MAIN Responsibilities
The Education Training Employment LINK worker will be responsible forworking with the 1:1 worker and trainer to maximise opportunities for service users to reach their ETE goals. You will be responsible for building relationships with local education, training providers and local businessesto facilitate training and employment opportunities for service users across the county of Essex. You will be responsible for designing and delivering ETE based workshops for service users and assessing course work for accreditation.
- External Relationships
- To identify and build links with potential training providers to set up training provision for service users– both accredited and non accredited
- To build relationships with a variety of employers across Essex and establish placements and corporate mentoring opportunities
- To make links with Department of Work and Pension to facilitate short corporate mentoring opportunities and Work Trials
- To liaise with local providers to facilitate involvement in interventions including Benefits advice, Domestic Violence, Complementary therapies and Housing advice
- To identify and link in with a range of community based groups and to promote access to a range of activities within the wider communities including gyms, sports clubs, complementary therapies and volunteering opportunities
- To build relationships with mutual aid supporters to facilitate Aftercare support available to service users
- Training Provision
- To design, deliver and evaluate training in line with awarding bodies qualifications as required
- To carry out assessments of candidates undertaking accredited qualifications
- To comply fully with the awarding bodies requirements
- Support and Education
- To support service users to identify their ETE goals and to create solution focussed care plans with them to identify ways to work towards these goals
- To Provide on going support to service users and employers once placements or jobs have been secured
- To Conduct basic skills assessments to ascertain service users numeracy and literacy needs
- To design and deliver ETE specific workshops including SMART Goal Setting, CV creation, filling in application forms and answering difficult interview questions
- To work closely with and provide support to the ETE trainer and 1:1 worker as may be required.
- To have an awareness of Business community responsibility and be able to use this knowledge to support service users to get access to work shadowing opportunities
- To understand the barriers to employment for service users and employers, working with county providers to develop and maintain links for service users
- Maintaining a safe working environment
- To ensure the service remains a safe and drug free environment by linking in with treatment providers where service users relapse or are at risk of relapsing
- In conjunction with the team ensure a safe learning environment in which the diverse needs of learners can be expressed and appropriately met.

- To ensure all concerns, complaints and appeals are addressed sensitively and in-line with Foundation66 policy and procedure.
- Competence and Professional Development
- To maintain compliance of the assessor qualification to ensure it remains current and valid with the assessor qualification
- To actively participate in own supervision to ensure ongoing competence to perform role and to continuously develop own knowledge and skills.
- In conjunction with the SAMS Manager to develop a work plan identifying performance indicators and time frames.

- To maintain case records and accurately record statistical information
- To attend staff meetings and training as required
- To undertake any other duties as may be required by the Service Manager
- To manage the budget by ensuring best use of available funds
- To ensure petty cash procedures are followed
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education Training Employment Link Worker
Education and Experience- Experience of developing and delivering training courses
- Experience of working with other providers to maximise opportunities for individuals
- NVQ Level 3 in Information, Advice and Guidance/Preparing To Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector or the Training Assessment and Quality Assurance qualification(or willingness to work towards this assessor qualification whilst holding another accredited training qualification)
- Experience of working with substance misuse desirable, but not essential
