Official Entry Form

The GLAAD Amplifier Awards recognize and honor advertising, public relations, and marketing which include fair, accurate and inclusive images of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and the issues that affect their lives. The GLAAD Amplifier Awards also fund GLAAD's work to amplify stories of LGBT people and issues that build support for equality.

Eligibility Period: To be considered for the 2012 GLAAD Amplifier Awards, an advertising, public relations, or marketing campaign must have been printed, broadcast, appeared online or exhibited outdoors in the United States between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012.

Submission Deadline: Materials must be received in the New York GLAAD office by Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 6 p.m. ET.

How to submit: Because supporting materials must be submitted for each entry, you may NOT submit entry forms online. You must print and mail this completed entry form with all supporting materials to the address given below.

Please note that for each submission you must include a separate entry form.

Finalists announced: GLAAD will announced the finalists in each category during the week of August 20, 2012.

Award Recipients Announced: AllAward Recipients will be announced at the 2012 GLAAD Amplifier Awards event tentatively scheduled for October 2, 2012. This industry celebration is an official event of Advertising Week.

Criteria: GLAAD will only consider entries that include lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender images or address issues that affect our community. Criteria for evaluating entries are:

1) the fairness, accuracy and inclusiveness of the LGBT representations

2) the boldness and originality of the content

3) the impact of the project

4) the overall quality of the project

Categories:

For the 2012 GLAAD Amplifier Awards, the event will recognize entries from Public Relations, Advertising, Events and Digital campaigns.

Under each type of campaign, the GLAAD Amplifier Awards will recognize finalists in campaigns aimed at a mainstream audience, and finalists from projects aimed specifically at an LGBT audience.

Please note that un-paid Public Service Announcements are not eligible in any category. Also note that ads must have appeared in media in the United States. GLAAD will make the final determination regarding eligibility and the appropriate category for each entry.

Public Relations – Out and PRoud

Campaign of the Year: This includes programs, driven primarily by public relations, that have elevated the LGBT community in a fair, accurate and inclusive way. The nominees may be companies that have taken a stand, solved a unique marketing problem or introduced a new and productive point-of-view to the mainstream audience.

Impact Award: This includes programs, driven primarily by public relations, that have had the biggest, measureable impact in or for the LGBT community. The nominees may be companies that have changed behavior, impacted legislation, increased donations in order to directly benefit the LGBT community.

Advertising – The Hot Spot

Campaign of the Year: This includes programs, driven primarily by advertising(whether online, print, television or out of home) that have elevated the LGBT community in a fair, accurate and inclusive way. The nominees may be companies that have taken a stand, solved a unique marketing problem or introduced a new and productive point-of-view to the mainstream audience.

See Yourself: This includes programs, driven primarily by advertising (whether online, print, television or out of home) that have had the biggest, measureable impact in or for the LGBT community. The nominees may have used advertising to raise awareness of their brand within the LGBT community, introduce new aspects of their products or services, or showcase their company's support for the LGBT community.

Events – Beyond the Parade

Event of the Year: This category recognizes events that have created a lasting, meaningful impact for the LGBT community. The nominees may be a brand event or fundraiser that has influenced behavior or increased understanding of the LGBT community among a mainstream audience.

Hot Ticket: This category includes branded events, executed on or behalf of LGBT-friendly corporations. The nominees will showcase the reach and impact of the event itself, and how it positively impacted the LGBT community.

Digital – Out and Interactive

Campaign of the Year: This category includes programs, driven primarily by online communications, that have elevated the LGBT community in a fair, accurate and inclusive way. The nominees may be a companies that have taken a stand, solved a unique marketing problem or introduced a new and productive point-of-view to the mainstream audience.

LGBT Engagement: This category recognizes brands, organizations and causes that have mastered the art of online engagement. The nominees will have not only reached, but engaged with, its target LGBT audience in a way that is productive, impactful and mutually beneficial.

PLEASE INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING PER ENTRY:

Entry Guidelines:

-The eligibility period for the 2012 GLAAD Amplifier Awards is July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012

-Entry must address research, planning, execution and evaluation of the program

-Entry must showcase the rationale and insight that led to targeting the LGBT consumer or the inclusion of LGBT imagery in a project targeting a mainstream audience

-The work must have appeared in the United States; international entries are not eligible

-Entry must show how the project supports the mission, vision and values of GLAAD

Technical Guidelines:

-All entries must be received by July 11, 2012

-All entries must include a completed entry form found below

-All entries must include a concise text entry, no more than two pages in length (single spaced, 10 point Arial font), including an entry synopsis of 100 words or less

-Entries may include a binder of supporting material, no greater than one inch thick

-Entries must include a visual representation of the project or event. This may include a supporting video (highlight reel, clips, etc.) no longer than three minutes

-Entries and supporting materialsmust be submitted by mail.
