Adolescent Sexual Health: Data, Dissemination and Development

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time, fixed term position as a postdoctoral researcher with the Health Promotion Research Centre at the National University of Ireland, Galway. This position is funded by the Irish Research Counciland the Crisis Pregnancy Programme, and is available from December 2012 to end of December 2013. The successful candidate will work on secondary data analysis of theHealth Behaviour of School-aged Children (HBSC) international dataset and other national archives, innovative research dissemination techniques and preparation for future studies in this field.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will join the HBSC Ireland research team and will work directly on enhancing our understanding of adolescent sexual health in Ireland. This will include data analysis, report production, networking with others in the field both nationally and internationally, collaborating and leading on journal articles, scientific and policy related presentations, developing dissemination mechanisms and some supervision of research assistants. Experience in these areas and familiarity with adolescent health issues are highly desirable qualifications for the appointment. For more information contact .

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have a PhD in a Health-related or Social Science disciplinewith high-level quantitative analysis skills, excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and evidence of capacity for independent research activity. Desirable experience includes large-scale complex survey analysis, involvement in child and adolescent health related research and a track record in scientific publication.

Salary: €30,117 per annum (public sector pay policy rules pertaining to new entrants will apply)
