About the event
Our National Foundation Phase Conference comes at a critical time for stakeholders. The Welsh Government has outlined its commitment to raising educational standards and outcomes in the early years, demonstrated through the Building a Brighter Future: Early Years and Childcare Plan, the Literacy and Numeracy Framework and the forthcoming curriculum and assessment reforms.
This highly practical conference will spotlight key areas of focus for Estyn inspections of the Foundation Phase, along with sector leading practice from ‘excellent’ schools to help you effectively deliver this unique play-based approach to learning whilst ensuring progress in line with national priorities.
Benefits of attending
  • Get to grips with the progress of the newly established Early Years Partnership Board in taking forward the aims of the Building a Brighter Future Plan
  • Hear advice on the continued development of the Foundation Phase following the independent evaluation
  • Understand the practicalities for delivering an ambitious outdoor learning programme, which makes use of the environment and local partners
  • Understand how to identify and apply best practice approaches to help increase literacy and numeracy skills
  • Take away learning from a Welsh medium school that is making progress in developing language skills with pupils from English speaking homes
  • Explore best practice approaches to effectively self-evaluate your setting and drive improvement
  • Explore how rigorous curriculum planning can ensure tailored learning support for children with additional needs
