Administrative Assistant

The “Raising the Spirit” Mental Wellness Team is innovative in providing collaboration of a specialized consultative team of professionals from social work, psychology, traditional knowledge and healing, psychiatry and mental health and addictions. The team will work with community front line workers in addressing complex needs in addictions and mental health in nine area First Nations. The goals of the project are as follows:

·  Improving access to needed specialized services where gaps exist

·  Enhancing knowledge, skills and capacities of community front line workers

·  Providing support via a team approach of consultation, clinical supervision, coaching and mentoring.

·  Building and/or strengthening bridges between traditional and mainstream approaches to wellness.

Under the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Administrative Assistant will provide Professional Office Skills in the area of reception, filing, and clerical duties to support and ensure effective day to day operations and relevant timely communication.

Responsibilities:

·  Ensuring timely and professional communications with all participating First Nations and project stakeholders

·  Manage day-today administrative duties, assist in the preparation of reports, expense claims and correspondence

·  Assist with secure electronic and hard copy file and information management

·  Assist with preparation of financial documentation and work in conjunction with M’Chigeeng First Nation Finance

·  Participate and assist in planning, research and evaluation, quality improvement and capacity building efforts and processes

·  Assisting in the coordination of Steering Committee and other meetings and the preparation and distribution of accurate minutes and meeting materials

·  Input data for statistical purposes

·  To ensure confidentiality in the provision of services at all points of contact both in person and via telephone

·  Arrange for locations, accommodations and catering if required

·  Work on special projects as assigned

Qualifications:

·  Post-Secondary degree/diploma in a relevant field

·  2 to 5 years experience working in a health or social service setting

·  Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills

·  Sound proficiency in IT and computer applications skills

·  Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of work

·  Work in a team approach and with minimal supervision

·  Knowledge of First Nations communities and health and social service issues

·  Fluency in Anishnaabemowin is an asset

·  Good time management and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

·  Some travel is a required - applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle

·  Successful candidate must provide a clean, current CPIC and VSS
