Introduction to Parametric Modeling

Assignment #9

Objective:

The student will create a solid model, apply geometric constraints and dimensional constraints, and assign parametric equations to the dimensional constraints.

Assignment:

Zoom the graphics area out to create the object as close to the overall dimensions as possible

Create a rough two-dimensional sketch of the shape of the object

Apply geometric and dimensional constraints as follows:

Make side A colinear to side B using the Colinear constraint

Make side E colinear to side F using the Colinear constraint

Dimension side C and make side D Equal to side C using the Equal constraint

Add the remaining dimensional constraints to complete the two-dimensional sketch.

Extrude the two-dimensional sketch to complete the parametric model.

Note: When placing specific geometric constraints it may be necessary to delete existing constraints not needed.

In the Model panel select edit the sketch to modify the two-dimensional sketch.

Edit the length (L) 1.50 dimension and record the dimensional variable assigned to this dimension.

Edit the remaining dimensions and replace the values using Parametric Equations as follows:

1.25 as (Variable name * 0.833)

0.25 as (Variable name * 0.167)

0.50 as (Variable name * 0.333)

0.75 as (Variable name * 0.500)

0.125 as (Variable name * 0.083)

0.375 as (Variable name * 0.250)

0.20 as (Variable name * 0.133)

0.30 as (Variable name * 0.200)

Finish the sketch to complete the parametric model.

In the Model panel select edit the extrusion to modify the dimensional value.

Change the extruded dimension to the expression (Variable name * 0.167).

Finish the sketch to complete the parametric model.

Save the finished model to your disk

Complete a fully annotated drawing.
