Preliminary Notice of Race

1.  Skagerrak Cup 2009 will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing including Scandinavian Sailing Federation prescriptions and the alone standing Notice of Race for each race counted in Skagerrak Cup 2009

2.  The following races will be counted in Skagerrak Cup 2009:

3.  Classes
In each race there will be a class called “Skagerrak Cup 2009” and yachts holding a valid 2009 ORC Club Certificate with a GPH less than 710 can compete in this class. Yachts not holding a valid 2009 ORC Club Certificate can contact each countries national ORC Rating Office or contact Norwegian Offshore Racing Club at

4.  Entry and eligibility
Yachts entering in one or more of the listed races can enter the Skagerrak Cup 2009. The same yacht is to be used in all races and only two different skippers can be used. There is no entry fee for Skagerrak Cup 2009 and it will be possible to enter Skagerrak Cup at the same entry form as you use for each races in the series. Yachts are allowed to participant in also an another class in each race and if so the yacht will be scored in both this class and Skagerrak Cup as long as the total distance in the other class is the same as the one in the “Skagerrak Cup 2009” class.

5.  Scoring
Competitors in Skagerrak Cup will be scored in each race using ORC club Performance Line Offshore , where corrected time is calculated by two coefficients as follows: Corrected time = (PLT * Elapsed time) - (PLD * Distance), using the time coefficient PLT and distance coefficient PLD appearing on each boats ORC Club certificate. Three of the four races will be counted in the overall result and the yachts total rankingpoints (R) in each regatta will be scored according to the following:


Rankingpoints = R=C*(1-(P-A)/N+T)

C=100

T=1/N/3(1st boat)

A=0.5

P=Place

N=Number of boats in “Skagerrak Cup” class

6.  Prizes
In addition to the Skagerrak Cup 2009 - trophy, prizes will be awarded to each member of the crews placing first, second and third in Skagerrak Cup 2009.

7.  Prize giving
The Skagerrak Cup 2009 - trophy and crew prizes will be awarded during the price giving ceremony after Gothenburg Offshore Race in Marstrand in September.
