Wrestling Program 2012-13

The Celina Middle School wrestling team is looking to improve on last year’s 9-4 record. With 7 starters returning and many experienced 8th graders coaches Heingardner and Miracle look forward to having a full team lineup that can compete in the new revised schedule.
80 - 7th Grader Tyson McNerney is the Bulldog starter at this weight class. Tyson has wrestled in the youth program in the past.
86 - Nate Robinson is up one weight class and looks to start for the Bulldogs in this weight class Nate won 11 matches last year!. He will be pushed for this spot by 7th grader Breenan Lim who is an athletic kid who also played football..
92 - Returning 8th grader Chris Nelson who spent a lot of time wrestling this summer will compete with Collin Ruston and Ethan Bradford for this spot. Ruston is an 8th grader who is new to Celina, while Bradford wrestled previously in the youth program.
98 - Austin Hines in a returning starter who placed in many tournaments last season. Austin won 18 matches last year as a 7th grader and placed at Wayne Trace (3rd), Saint Marys (4th) and Elida (5th). Austin has improved tremendously since last year.
104 - Evan Stachler is a returning 8th grader who won 5 matches last year. Evan will compete with 7th grader Derek Truesdale for this spot. Evan spent time this summer training at Jordan’s Champ Camp while Truesdale starred on the 7th grade football team.
110 - This will be a competitive weight class for the Bulldogs. Returning 8th grader Issac Daniel is up 3 weight classes this year. He will be pushed by 7th graders Nick Garwood and Roger Smith. Garwood is the younger brother of Bulldog veteran Andy and has wrestled previously. Smith is a new comer to the sport but has great potential.
116 -Kodi Schmidt is a returning starter who won 14 matches last year. Kodi placed 4th at Saint Marys last year. Kodi is looking to improve on his successful 7th grade season. Michael Arnold is a first year 8th grader looking to compete in both the 116 and 122 pound classes. Michael is showing great progress so far.
122 - This will be another competitive weight class that will see several wrestlers compete throughout the year. In addition to Michael Arnold, Jared Weis, Tim Ferrell, and Braden Williams will look to help the Bulldogs in this weight class. Weis is a 1st year wrestler who also plays football. Ferrell is a smart 7th grader who also plays football, while WIlliams is a returning 8th grader who will be sidelined till January.
128 - Ethan Ogelsby is a returning starter for the Bulldogs. Ethan is looking to improve on a 7th grade season where he won 7 matches. Ethan will be backed up by the individuals competing at 122 pounds.
134 - PadrigHarger is a new 8th grader to Celina. Harger previously wrestled for West Carrolton and also played football this fall.
142 - The Bulldogs will have several first year wrestlers competing for this spot. 7th grader Morgan Bryant looks to start, but 7th grader Zack Vogel and 8th grader Anthony Martin will push him. Bryant, who also plays football, has displayed amazing potential early on. Vogel decided to join wrestling late, but has really developed nicely and will win his share of matches. Martin, is a 1st year 8th grader who will also compete at 150 pounds.
150 - Anthony Martin and Sam Huber will compete for this spot. Martin an 8th grader will also compete at 142 pounds, while Huber is a 7th grader who is looking to become more physical for a weight class that will be dominated by 8th graders.
160 - Kent Jutte is a returning starter who recorded 7 pins last year. Jutte is coming off an impressive football season that seen him named captain. If he improves in wrestling as much as he did with football, Kent will be competing for the championship at Elida. Kent will be challenged for the spot by 7th grader Damian Hart. Damian also played football and is strong for his size.
174 - 7th graders Derek Abels and Austin Johnson will compete for this spot. Abels is the younger brother of a family of wrestlers and has great size for the position. Johnson is also a football player who has wrestled in the youth program in the past.
205 - John Taylor is a 1st year wrestler who previously played football. John is a welcomed addition to this year’s squad and should have a good year. John is learning the sport and truly seems to enjoy wrestling.
245 - Cody Tangeman is an 8th grader who joined the wrestling team after spending time with coach Miracle on the football team. Cody is an athletic heavyweight with great size and agility. Cody has already shown more aggression in wrestling than he did in football and the coaches expect great things from him. Cody will have competition from 8th grader Chris Davis who is wrestling for the first time. Chris has missed much of the early part of the season, but the coaches expect him to improve greatly as the year goes on.
