WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD
THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY
Clearly an “American”holiday, Thanksgiving provides
an excellent opportunity for all of us to give thanks for all we
have, and forget for a moment all that we might desire. It is a
good time to contemplate for a moment, all of those who
struggle to make ends meet day after day.
AND IF YOU ANTICIPATE HAVING LARGE NUMBERS OF GUESTS
ON THANKSGIVING DAY, PLEASE ADVISE THE OFFICE

THE FOUNTAIN SAGA - AND THE BEAT GOES ON AND
ON AND ON…..
After lengthy negotiations, replete with the involvement of our attorney, etc., we reached an impasse with the artist we had been considering to design and do the installation of the fountain replacement project. At its October meeting therefore, the board voted unanimously to break off talks with the vendor, and to consider other options for the circle in front of the building. We will keep shareholders apprised of progress on this endeavor going forward.
OCTOBER’S INFORMAL BOARD MEETING
Board members got some good insights regarding issues on the minds of shareholders at the informal meeting held in the clubroom on October 14th.
Such meetings provide a comfortable setting in which friends and neighbors have an opportunity to share their feelings about how things are going at Cryder House with each other as well as with board members. All matters brought to the attention of individual members are then discussed by the entire board in executive session.
NEW PAVERS - WE TRUST YOU’VE NOTICED
New pavers have been installed in front of the building
in the area of the canopy. This project was undertaken
because the original pavers had become severely stained
over time. At the same time, the uneven nature of the pavers presented a tripping hazard. The new pavers are more attractive and enhance the front of the building. A sealing coat will be applied in short order.
The vast majority of comments we have received regarding this initiative have been positive in nature. And a special thanks to Ruth Divack for having consulted on this project.
SHAREHOLDERS MUST BE THE EYES AND EARS
Please let us know of any issues you notice in the
common areas of the building or should you have any
suggestions that you feel we need to look into. While members of the house committee regularly tour the building, we rely upon shareholder reports on such matters betwixt and between.
Leave a note for the board with the doorman, or hand deliver directly to Roberta in the office.
WELCOME TO WINTER AT THE CRYDER HOUSE -
SOME HELPFUL DRIVING REMINDERS
1.Have your windshield washer fluid checked at the gas
station. It comes in handy during winter weather.
2. Put the window scraper “in”the car. It works so much
better than if left in the house.
3. An aerosol can of windshield de-icer can be very helpful
in cold, snowy, icy weather.
4. Some folks keep a bag of kitty litter in the car trunk to
be used for better traction when stuck in a snowy or
icy parking spot.
5. Have your auto mechanic “load test”your car battery
before the cold weather sets in. Nothing like finding
a dead battery during the heart of winter.
6. Always, always make sure you have your cell phone
with you when driving.
7. Consider staying home if there’s ice and snow on
the ground. Why risk a life and/or a forty thousand
dollar car if only to buy a two dollar loaf of bread?
8. Beware of the wind on the parking deck!
AND THANKS TO C.H.A.C.
Many thanks to the members of C.H.A.C. for having organized a festive Halloween party which took place
on October 31st in the clubroom. All participants report
having had a really enjoyable time. We also thank
C.H.A.C. for its ongoing sponsorship of the Sunday evening movies. And C.H.A.C. is always looking for volunteers to assist in the planning and organization of social events for Cryder House residents. All shareholders interested in joining C.H.A.C. should be in touch with Doreen Steinmarc, unit 3J.
