Who decides what is on the menu?
The School Council and Kitchen Staff are all involved in the planning of our menus. This ensures that everything we offer is nutritious, delicious and balanced. It also goes without saying that we take requests and suggestions from all our diners (pupils)on board too!
Do the menus comply with governmental guidelines?
Yes! – Our menus comply with the Food and Nutrient Standards for school meals and are continually audited and improved.

Does anybody check and audit the meals?
Yes! - All of our food service and standards are monitored regularly by our own management team and also by the Governors and PSA representative as part of our continuous development programme.
It is also monitored independently by the Local Authority Schools Meals Support Officer and by the EnvironmentalHealth Officer (‘Scores on Doors’).
Can I have a say about the school meals that I pay for?
Of course – through our host tasting sessions to be re-launched.

We work hard to ensure that we provide a multicultural menu that meets pupils’ dietary religious and cultural needs.
Vegetarian options
Our vegetarian dishes are finger licking delicious, nutritionally balanced with protein from pulses, beans and dairy products.
Special Diets and Allergies
If your child has a specific dietary need for a medical reason, we can provide your child with a suitable balanced school meal, please see the Welfare Officer.
Is my family entitled to free school meals?
You could be entitled to a free school meal if you are in receipt of certain benefits such as:
Income support (IS) or Income Based Job Seekers Allowance (IBJSA)
An income-related employment and support allowance
Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
Child Tax Credit, (provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit) and have an annual income that does not exceed £16,190.00 (as assessed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs) (TC 602 Final award Notice – 2012/2013)
If you receive Working Tax Credit (other than a four week run on period) your child is not eligible for a free school meal.
Free School Meals is worth £361.00 for the year per child.

School Menu
School Dinners
At Princess Frederica we are proud of the school dinners available to our pupils.
School dinners are prepared in-house from scratch, with a variety of fresh/organic/Garden Club grown fruit, vegetables and herbs.
We do not include manufactured meat or fish products.
Our school dinners are a great value at £1.90p per day
Children who eat school dinners have commented that they thoroughly enjoy the food.
You will also be pleased to know that we encourage the children to eat their vegetables and the great majority of them are happy to do so!!!
