W. JAMES & SUSAN T. SMITH SCHOLARSHIP FUND

ONE $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a Clinical Laboratory Science (CLSC) major each Spring semester for use by the student beginning the following Summer semester. The scholarship will be awarded based predominantly on demonstrated financial need, and secondarily on academic performance in the CLSC courses and potential to contribute to the profession of Clinical Laboratory Science. The scholarship recipient will be selected and award check presented by May 2nd of each year. Applications and all supporting information must be submitted to the CLSC Scholarship Committee by April 1st of each year.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • CLSC major enrolled in the professional phase of the program.
  • CLSC major in good academic standing.
  • CLSC major who will enter the senior year clinical rotations the subsequent Fall semester.

5. Indicate below or on a separate sheet with your name, exactly what you will use the $1000 to pay in order to stay in school. Be specific.

6. On a separate sheet(s) with your name, describe how you see yourself contributing to the profession of clinical laboratory science and what you would like to be doing professionally five years after graduating. This must be typed and be 300 to 400 words in length.

7. Please sign below this statement so that verification of the information in questions 1 and 2 can be obtained from the ECU Financial Aid Office. The scholarship selection committee will not consider applications that are not signed below.
