VT Town Forest Recreation Planning Community Assistance Program

·  Steering Committee /Community Forums: So far Joel, Rick, Rowe, Angela/Vinnie; still need to check with Cindy Hall

·  Define needs/Desired Outcome

o  Inventory of existing parks in community With Sonya’s help, Nancy secured maps of Denny Park, Boch Park, Low-St. John Forest and Memorial Field; still need to get map of Elizabeth’s Park

o  Inventory of existing recreation programs in community ??

o  Local and regional trail maps still need to get Cross VT Trail Map; Rivendell Trail Map; Low-St. John Forest Trails

o  Previous town forest plans, management plans, design work completed for Town Forest Received Forest Management Plans from David Paganelli; received BCC Management Plans up to 2010; still need to complete Management Plans for work completed 2010 to present

o  Any trail or transportation plans completed in community ??

o  Any other community plans that may be relevant (economic development, scenic resources, sidewalks, safe routes to school, etc Received Sidewalk Inventory from TRORC

Management

Management Plan Updates Since 2010 – list includes: Rube’s Route, Nancy’s Trace, Parking area at Tillotson’s Trek, Tillotson’s Trek Trail, Sean’s Trail, Privvy at Tillotson’s Treak, Kiosk at Tillotson’s Treak, Plaque at Sean’s Trail, Wilderness Trail, and new Cindy’s Trail.

Barbara & Monique volunteered to help with development of up-dated Management Plan.

Information & Education

·  Proceeds from September Movie ($75.00) were sent to Texas Environmental Justice Advocacy Services in Houston; Thank You letter has been received

·  Proceeds from October Movie ($150.00) were sent to St. Croix Environmental Association

·  Discussed potential for a “citizen science” presentation or a Bioblitz event; suggested Bridget Butler to lead

Solid Waste Phil has reported seeing more roadside trash since bag prices went up at Transfer Station

Conservation – Annual Appeal letter has raised enough money to pay for tree removal at WM Trailhead

Beautification

Library Bank – Sandy will have a plan by next meeting

Energy Discussed L.E.D. lights at Highway Garage; Discussed L.E.D. lights at Elizabeth’s Park
